Jim Park Voting 2023 AFL Rd 16 Carlton vs Hawthorn July 02, 2023, 07:18:44 pm Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)[3] Three players at least must get a mention.[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.Hopefully there will be a few people who want to vote after a win like that! I certainly didn't expect to win when we went into the game ruckless. Quote Selected

Re: Jim Park Voting 2023 AFL Rd 16 Carlton vs Hawthorn Reply #14 – July 06, 2023, 06:07:08 pm AFL Rd 16: Carlton vs HawthornI admit I was worried about this one. Stronger clubs than us have performed pathetically immediately after the bye, so why should we be an exception? Also, we’ve struggled to win ANY games after the bye in the last few years. To win the way we did was very pleasing.Team: AVotes:A rating or not, there are simply not enough votes to give a realistic appraisal of our better players, because ALL of them contributed. However, I’ll do my best:[2] Adam Cerra[2] Patrick Cripps[1.5] Sam Docherty[1.5] Jacob Weitering[1] Sam Walsh[1] Jack Silvagni[1] Blake Acres[1] Harry McKay[0.5] Adam Saad[0.5] Mitch McGovern[0.5] Brodie Kemp[0.5] Lachie Fogarty[0.5] Charlie Curnow[0.5] Nic Newman[0.5] Jordan Boyd[0.5] Jack MartinExplanations:[2] Adam Cerra: An excellent game from Cerra, with 2 goals to cap things off. 6 clearances, 7 tackles and more![2] Patrick Cripps: Would have got top billing if he hadn’t mucked up the great centre clearance in last quarter. 8 clearances, 6 tackles and 3 goal assists.[1.5] Sam Docherty: four weeks ago Doc couldn’t hit the side of a barn from inside the barn. Now … 5 tackles and a great goal.[1.5] Jacob Weitering: Going into this round his opponent had more Inside 50 marks than anyone else in the AFL. Enter Jacob and who did the marking? The Carlton man![1] Sam Walsh: One of his best games for the year. Much more effective than he was not long ago. His possessions really hurt! 3 clearances and 7 tackles.[1] Jack Silvagni: His best game in a long time, Jack did well enough in the taps, but was excellent around the ground. He held his marks and his kicks hit targets. Any other week and he’d get a lot more votes![1] Blake Acres: Lots of ball and not so many turnovers is a good start. 8 crunching tackles said a lot more.[1] Harry McKay: H was getting possessions in number more like a mid, and taking some really bit marks. His field kicking was excellent.[0.5] Adam Saad: Put his man in starvation corner and got a lot of it himself. A typical Saad – like game.[0.5] Mitch McGovern: Two awful errors, but a hell of a lot of good stuff. 5 marks and 6 tackles.[0.5] Brodie Kemp: Good numbers again in defence and 9 marks.[0.5] Lachie Fogarty: One of Fog’s best games at senior level. 18 possessions, 7 tackles and a lot of negative work in the forward line.[0.5] Charlie Curnow: Had 3 opponents and beat them all. Should have had 5 or 6, but for a guy who was crook all week, he did OK.[0.5] Nic Newman: Did a job on Breust, who has hurt us before.[0.5] Jordan Boyd: An excellent effort from Boyd.[0.5] Jack Martin: Where has this sort of form come from? He is move better for longer, and each of his possessions makes something happen.Honourable Mentions:Lewis Young: Took on the ruck job and did it manfully.David Cuningham: Almost vote worthy, Cuningham continued his impressive form from last week.Matthew Kennedy: A solid display in the middle. Loved his strength at the contests.Ed Curnow: One of his better efforts for the year. Father time may have caught up somewhat, but Ed keeps working anyway.Matthew Owies: With others getting the rewards, he wasn’t so obvious this week, but his hard work and defensive efforts are always appreciated.Alex Cincotta: Loved some of his body work this week. A really solid effort. Quote Selected
