How & Where Do You Play XYZ ...... ??

The team is now cemented in 2nd place and failing a complete disaster, should remain there for the season. Thing is, the onfield squad is pretty solid right now and its hard to imagine too many wholesale changes going forward.

It brings up an interesting question around a handful of players who are fan favourites and are considered a big part of the squad (not all of them by me though).

So how, where & why do we play the following guys if & when they are fit & available :

Cottrell
Silvagni
Motlop
Docherty
Marchbank
Durdin
Martin
Cuningham
Young
Pittonet

Don't worry about fitting them in the side. Worry about fitting them in your list.

I've bolded 3 players who don't have a contract for next year - Martin, Marchbank and Cuningham.
There are only 5 players from the senior list who don't have a contract for next year, and thats 3 of them.

One way or another, there will almost certainly be a at least a couple on that list who are not on our list next year.

Cottrell is an instant in.
We need to wait and see how Doc and Jack come back from their injuries.
Pittonet plays according to ruck requirements.
Martin should probably get a year. His best can be influential.
If Motlop can fulfil his potential he's probably our best long term small forward prospect.
Marchbank is an enigma. Fit and at his best he should be in the side....he's never fit.
Don't see a lot of senior games for the others.

Cottrell to replace Ollie Hollands on the wing and Id have three or four on that initial list out.
Cant cop Martin, Marchbank and Cuningham being unavailable for such long periods and all of them have been replaced by fitter players and Corey Durdin isnt good enough and we have other options now who have stood up and are part of a winning unit that is doing the job.
Cowan and Boyd have made us better down back as has E.Hollands down forward/midfield plus Fantasia might be starting to deliver on what was expected of him.
Keep it simple and stick with whats working and be ruthless in list management at seasons end by moving on the baggage...
