Marchbank walking off to the rooms just before half time.
Might as well be off to write his retirement speech if he is injured again.

A bit of talk about lemmey during the week.
I've been watching on and off and he is playing up forward and have noticed  his name called twice.
Once he dropped a mark alone in the goal square. Ball went through his hands for a behind.
Second time was when he took a mark on the boundary 30m out. Decided to square it up back to the 50m arc, turned it over and Lions got a goal out of it.

He is the best kpp we have coming through and that's embarrassing.

Well you managed to see his mistakes. He's done plenty of good things and taken some good grabs. But still very much a work in progress... tall fellas and all that stuff.

The more I see of Cooper Lord, the more I like.

Hasn't been many positives to be honest.

Name thats been called the most seems to be Liam McMahon, reckon he compliments our list more than Lord does.

I'm not suggesting Lord be considered for senior selection, only that he is coming along nicely. Liam McM must have come really close to being picked up by someone in the midseason draft. Potential key defender for us, maybe?

He is not that bad - but Liam McMahon on our rookie list makes alot of sense.

he's a one and done effort kind of guy.  People moaning about Charlie's lack of second efforts won't be thrilled with McMahon.  He's not very mobile and has a height advantage at this level.  Is a good kick though generally and I wouldn't mind looking st him but I'd say he's competing with Jack Martin and silvagni.  Not sure he's dislodging either but we do need a tall coming through.

Personally I'd be looking at a wiedemann type.  Highly touted, tall enough, could be a late bloomer.  Ben Brown became a premiership player.  He's the type that could too.

[1] Statistically, we lack top mids at this level. Deven Robertson dominated. He can't get into the Lions' team but he is far too god for VFL.
Last year we had Dow getting the ball out of the middle thirty times per game. We really haven't had that this year. Maher and Ramshaw are good, honest toilers, but they're not AFL quality.
That begs the question: what about Carroll? To be honest, I don't think he is good enough. He got it 24 times today to be 2nd in our possessions, but his disposals don't hurt Like Cerra's can.
Do we continue his development or look to the Camporeale boys? Honestly, if we traded him to West Coast it mightn't be a bad thing.
[2] Our VFL boys lack leadership. We have very few mature bodies to choose from at this level and it shows. Lachie Young was brought in for leadership, and while he isn't a bad player, he doesn't appear to be a great on-field leader. He makes some terrible mistakes and drops marks at critical times. That said, he was lightyears better than Phillips, who is no longer on our list.
Hayes, in the few weeks he has been available, has been a revelation. He is at the coal face, he gets a lot of ball and he really puts in. he is the perfect example for youngsters. Pity he was unavailable today. We didn't just miss his 30+ possessions, but his ability to get the ball forward.
Lewis Young must have done OK today. He got it 23 times for 7 marks and played some time on the ball. But he isn't a leader.
Marchbank, who can really be a leader in defence, has had it. 4 possessions in a half and apparently injured again. When fit, he is in our best 22, but when is he fit? I think he's cooked. Last year, coming back from injury, he took mark after mark in defence. This year, nada.
[3] Our youngsters do not appear to be fast developers. Granted that we don't have many top picks running around in the 2's, but none of our youngsters seem to come on like they do at other clubs. I'm happy with the way Ollie Hollands and Cowan are coming on, but they are foot soldiers at the moment. The majority of our kids are in the 2's, not doing a lot. Moir had 7 possessions today. Wilson had 11, nut he usually does a lot better than that. Monahan had 10 and Mirkov had 12, although Mirkov got 37 taps. Lemmey stepped up today , with 3 goals 2 and 16 possessions and 9 marks. None of these guys are close to AFL ready.
[4] VFL players:
I would be offering McMahon a rook spot. He is our top goal kicker and he can make things happen, even with the poor supply he gets from upfield. That said, he is still really light and needs to live in the gym for a year. He gets out-bodied too easily and he makes some shocking errors. But he could be a player.
Ned Cahill isn't bad, but he misses a lot. He would be kicking at about 50% this year. Still, he is worth his spot each week.
Will White is a kid who shows something. He has a very nice left foot and he knows where the goals are, but he is very light. I've liked what I've seen, even if his last few weeks have been down.
Archie Stevens is the 2nd South Warnambool boy on our list and he is also a trier. He, too, had a down one today, but he has been a contributor to our midfield this year.
But other teams appear to have more experience on their lists than we do. We've gone very young and it hasn't always worked.

Martin is gone at seasons end if you believe the scribes....big salary cap squeeze and I can see the WA clubs offering more than what we do and he should take what ever offer he gets.

Didn't get to see the game yet but it sounds like Lemmey and Lord stood out.  Young's stats look OK - Ipresume he played back given the intercepts? - and Mirkov got plenty of taps.  I take it Marchy didn't come back on?  Wilson and Binns just okay by the numbers, but Wilson only coming back and Binns probably still tired from last week's numbers.  Can't dominate every week.  Like both of them but do wonder how Binns hurts sides at the higher level.  Will never know if he doesn't get a shot.

On Lord it seems to me he has a defensive edge and whilst certainly not quick isn't slow and those traits might well help our problem with being destroyed out of the middle if we don't win it clearly.

Can't see anyone pushing hard for inclusion next week, but Lord, Carroll, Young if we lose a tall, Binns if we decide to rest Ollie and even Wilson if we want to add outside pace could be around the mark.  And obviously Cowan could go back into the ones fresh from a rest assuming there isn't a late change.

On Martin I think the only thing that saves him is a big finish to the year.  When fit he has quality you don't just give away, but with the salary cap squeeze, his injury history and the fact that there may be some trade value to go West I think unless he shows his wares to best advantage - as he did late last year - you would think him gone.  Carroll I suspect in the same boat.  McMahon and and Will White I both think worth a look at as rookies.  both very light but can play.

see ive heard different re Martin.  He's on minimum chips as we front loaded heavily but he can go if he wants dollars.

He did kick 3.2 with 9 marks and 3 tackles. You bloke coming through. I'm sure he'll sort the stuff ups.

Not a bad effort from young Harry.  Imagine how well he'd go if he had some support and decent delivery.

Compared to games last year and earlier this year, Harry L has progressed.
