Kurtis Marschall 5.95m for bronze in the Men's Pole Vault.
Mondo Duplantis kept me up until midnight to watch him go 6.30m on his third attempt for a new World Record.
For Mondo 6.31m can't be too far away. ;)  :D

Gout Gout's ability to maintain his speed over the last 50m is phenomenal.  He'd be hard to beat if he could accelerate a little faster at the start.

When he transitions form boy to man, puts on a little muscle, he will be an animal who will be extremely hard to beat.

It's important we don't have too high expectations for Gout Gout for the rest of this meet.
By making the semis he's already achieved a great deal.
To make the final would be sensational...but he is up against the best in the world, mature runners at their peak
Plenty of time in the years ahead.

He does have this ability to maintain speed
I suspect his best combination may not necessarily be the 100/200 but he might be more suited the 200/400.
He's run a 46.20 400 without really training for it.

Watching him match it with world class athletes like that makes it easy to forget that he’s still a schoolboy.
