I think that we did very well to get Sophie McKay at pick 17.

With Poppy and Sophie, we've effectively landed two top ten picks  :)

I think we've done a decent job of addressing our weaknesses. We have an experienced forward in Tara Bohanna, a mid-forward in Sophie McKay and 2 defenders with athleticism in Scholz & Field.

Our ruck division is still an issue; Breann Moody isn't getting a lot of ruck time and isn't producing like she used to, Jess Good isn't a big possession getter, although she is probably our best tap ruck at the moment and Celine Moody hasn't done much yet. We need to work out what is happening with our rucks, as it is no longer the strength it once was.

Small forwards - Sophie McKay will help in this area, but she is going to spend some time in the midfield. Then there are the Irish girls - will one or more of them play small forward?

It will be interesting to see how we line up in 2025.

re draftees
Scholz will team with Cordner and allow Kez to be freed up a bit more and play a bit further up the ground.

McKay is another rotation that with her genes could be a genuine a-grader.

Field looks like she could be a Gab Pound apprentice.

re Our rucks...
Moody should be #1. Simple.

For whatever reason they've tried to shoehorn her into other positions to paper over cracks and left most of the ruckwork to Good. Who is good, but Moody was great, and another midfielder/link up player, whereas Good is just there for blocking rather than playing through.

Celine has been a huge disappointment. Hopefully it was just some kind of pre-existing injury, but i'm not hopeful.

I like the look of Scholz, looks powerful relative to most of our girls, and apparently pretty good aerobically for a player of that size.

I like the one grab marks, something Sophie does well too.

They both seem willing to take the game on and both have the toolkit to succeed at it.

Got that first pick in before having to bid which was great.  Pity Zippy Fish didn't last one more pick, but am excited by the potential of Poppy Scholz even though most analysts had her a bit later.  Sophie should be a bargain and Lou Lou Field seems a quality footballer and leader who will probably be a Gab Pound replacement down  the track.
