Maybe.
I would assume it wont be Young who comes in
Weiters - Thilthorpe
Gov - Fogarty
Haynes - Walker
Saad - Keays
Carroll - Rachele

I think Young might play....don't trust Haynes either on any of those physical type forwards.Walker would get my best defender. Saad on Keays from memory hasn't worked out too well either...prefer Saad on Rankine
I'd be hoping our mids dominate and supply is minimal to the Crows forward line.

Adelaide really only has Thilthorpe as a tall forward but Walker and Fogarty will have at least 10kg on most of our taller defenders if we don’t play Young.

Jack Silvagni has been outstanding with his ability to play on tall and medium forwards and to set up our transition from defence.  Young isn’t a like for like replacement but neither are Doc and Moo, and we’d be quite undersized with either of them replacing Jack in our defensive seven.

I think I’d like to see Young on Thilthorpe, Weitering freed up to control our transition and Cowan to come in for Carroll.  Not that Jeff has been poor but Moo can play taller and is a bit harder.

Rankine plays more midfield and Saad wont play there. Keays dines out on us, pencil him in for 4 goals now irrespective of who plays on him. Thilthorpe is there best and biggest fwd hence Weiters. They were saying on Fox Gov seems to do better agains the taller quicker more mobile fwds, dont know whether you'd call Fogarty to Walker quick and mobile.
I 100% trust Haynes (now) to do a defensive job on either. Young is too flaky to play on Thilthorpe IMO.

Agree totally EB. Pressure on delivery to Crows forwards is the key.
If they get clean ball, it will make it hard.
We must bring the heat like last week around the ball, otherwise we'll struggle to beat them.

Always a challenge against this mob. They're our Achilles heel.

IF we can bring the heat and cohesion of last week AND win around the contest to dominate i50 AND lock it i50. We win.

Not sold on Haynes as a defender or his kicking, prefer Weitering on Walker.
Thilthorpe has a hand injury which might negate his marking and help a player like Young who has the height to match him.
Fogarty will be an interesting watch given his shoulder will be sore still and I'd be testing it out.
Going to miss Jack and the Crows are a more difficult matchup for us than most teams and I think this game will be tougher than the Cats and a win will be a convincing sign we are a serious finals contender.

First marking contest, the spoiler should be aiming directly for that finger.....
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

it was interesting one of the talking heads (i think buckley) said he thought Gov struggled early in the year as they were playing him on smalls (as an attempt to free him up to be a 3rd man up).  now that he is playing on talls/mediums he is playing much better

Don’t mind the ins but at least one of our defenders will have to play a different role. Perhaps Carroll will be the sub 🤔

I don’t really want see Ollie Hollands back on the wing.  I’m sure that he’d do well but he has become an important part of our defensive group.

Yeah, don't mind the ins, don't think we had much choice. Doc's experience will be important this week, hope he has a big game.

Still a solid side. Many who didn't think SOS wasn't in our best 22 and Doc was late last year early this year (ie PS) would have taken that side as selected this week. Same could be said for Cottrell (many didn't rate him as best 22).

Our line-up:

B:
[32] Matthew Carroll  [23] Jacob Weitering  [11] Mitch McGovern
HB:  [13] Blake Acres  [26] Nick Haynes  [42] Adam Saad
C:  [20] Elijah Hollands  [9] Patrick Cripps  [4] Oliver Hollands
HF:  [18] Sam Walsh  [10] Harry McKay  [3] Jesse Motlop
F:  [8] Lachie Fogarty  [30] Charlie Curnow  [33] Lewis Young
R:  [12] Tom De Koning  [5] Adam Cerra  [29] George Hewett
Int:  [19] Corey Durdin  [38] Will White  [36] Cooper Lord  [15] Sam Docherty  [2] Lachlan Cowan

Em:  [44] Francis Evans  [25] Jaxon Binns  [27] Marc Pittonet

I wonder what Frankie Evans knows that keeps him in the picture? I can't see any other reason that he's that close to a game.
Binns: I guess he deserves a try.
Pitto: Yeah, he has to be close.
