I noticed the double whack on Boyd and how we allowed them to get away with it unchecked and unchallenged. Very poor by us and I would have thought Boyd was very disappointed in his teammates. I certainly was!

Extremely disappointing, Fluffy One. Horrible to witness.
Only our ruthless best, from Board to bootstudders will get us no. 17

Game was on the line, and there was not much time left when it happened.  Not really sure what else should or could have been done given the context at the time.  We were trying to get back into the game at that time.  All they are really gonna do is prevent an outlet kick by remonstrating.

I'd be curious to know how this played out behind the scenes, post match. Given how Voss played the game, and given that he was mentored / coached by both Robert Walls and Leigh Matthews. I mean, none of those three are exactly shy retiring types.

Maybe Thry is right. Or maybe there's a disconnect between players and coaches, maybe he has them so focused on their roles that they miss certain incidents. Hard to know.

I do remember an interview with Walls, where he told a story of how he was urging Stephen Kernahan to get into his opponent, give him a whack or a jab now and then. Sticks refused.  You can't really change a person's nature, but if only in the interests of team cohesion, you have to let the opposition know that certain things are not on.

Stop making sense Thry … it might be contagious 😉

The last thing we needed at that stage of the game was a melee.

It wasn't the only incident.

Boyd has been an angry man in the twos getting into push and shoves etc, Im wondering if he said or did something to cop what he did. We contest well when hunting the ball but we are a passive lineup overall and acts of thuggery are not natural for most of our team. I never saw Voss punch on with other players, he was just rock hard at the ball and cleaned up players fairly so I cant see him telling players we need to go and whack other players in retaliation. I was however surprised he didnt devise a strategy or two to help Sam Walsh avoid or deal with the heavy tag he was receiving from Jordan and its become a common scenario most weeks now where Walsh is heavily tagged and at time unfairly. GWS will do same with Bedford imo and Id like to see the GWS player made to earn his money and our blokes provide some cover for their teammate.

He sent Walsh to Warner who failed miserably.

I'd add to that the fact that outside of Saad our lot are not elite runners in terms of speed across the ground, that means that your duty cycle has to be higher, no respite, so just keeping up with play is incredibly taxing for our Mids and HBF types, they go at 85% to keep up with the oppositions 80%.

Having said that, we should be on the lookout for Boyd type incidents, to fly the flag and drain opponents of energy, because push and shove, inside down and dirty heavy traffic, that is our go not the run and spread, we should want the wrestle. We had a chance to make it so and we failed!
