Much of our current winning the footy comes as a turnover, but often after an earlier mistake, on the HBF, on the HFF, in the centre, in transition, it's not just about stoppages either in the midfield or around the ground.
We fight and fight to win the footy, often do win it, but rarely use it efficiently, too many of those wins have come at the end of a earlier chain of mistakes, we have spent all our energy fighting to win it back from an earlier mistake. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, until we have no physical fight left and the opposition score relatively freely.
We batter ourselves against a brick wall, taking many swings and missing, like one of Mohammad Ali's opponents we punch ourselves stupid without landing a blow!
We are compounding the mistakes, it's a stupidity.
We also have a rather largish squad, yet we are easy to play against, we watch our medium smalls get squashed under opposition, we scream about it! Yet, we rarely hurt opposition medium or smalls. Week after week we see Motlop, Fogarty, Hollands, Durdin, dumped in crushing tackles. When did you last see McGovern, Cripps, Weitering, McKay, Charlie, TDK, Young, etc., etc., squash an opposition medium / small? Today Cerra probably was the only player to issue a crushing tackle, a tackle that cause some physical duress.
We are more likely to be bemoaning one of our KPPs being smashed than ever see them crunch and opposition midget, the midgets play against us with impunity! We might well be tiring to play against, but we aren't hard or uncomfortable to play against despite being obviously large!
