Prof, I get they want to wipe out every terrorist organisation like Hamas that's attacked them and the like but they take it too far and create chaos and needless destruction that other countries have to cleanup and provide for the refugees they create.
The old Israel would seek out their enemies and the Mossad would take care of business in a more calculated low key manner avoiding mass destruction but the present regime don't care where they lob their missiles or what collateral damage occurs and with Trump throwing fuel on the fire it's the worst I have known the middle east to be and without a normal USA President to bring some control  to the table it won't get any better.

I'm assuming that everyone wants lasting peace, EB, how is this attainable without killing a stack of people and perpetuating the cycle of violence?

Unfortunately Prof, there are some who just want to keep fighting to the last man on both sides and with the weaponry available now the bodies will just keep piling up and this tit for tat revenge attitude the theme with no winners.
It's spreading to other countries too and that's the danger..

People want peace, but they also want their national identity to succeed and restored to its former glory, and are willing to perpetuate the cycle to do so.

I read that in the wash up every American, be they man, woman, child or other, will gift Iran US$1000 each.

Something tells me that somehow companies connected to the likes of Trump, Putin, Xi and a host of Middle East others will be rolling in Iranian rebuild cash in 5 or 10 years! ;)

Almost back to Square One. A pity neither side really wants the thing to stop, and that the US don't want to do what is necessary to win.
I have no idea what Trump wants to get out of this war, except to prove he is a military moron. Nobody should enter a war without knowing what a win looks like.
Then again, I can't help but think that Trump just might be some other sort of moron as well.

I can't say that I like Iranian government, but they are reading Trump pretty well most of the time. Not sure they realize they were winning, but ...
