Am I the only one that doesn’t really think Xerri did anything and TDK just slid into the fence?

I was front row about 10 metres away, he pushed him.
Okay - thanks it looks pretty nothing to me on the replay.

It doesn't take much to push someone over when moving at speed and being off balance. He didn't jump into the fence.
2012 HAPPENED!!!!!!!

Its funny right.

We've been here before.  https://afltables.com/afl/stats/coaches/carlton.html

If we sack vossy, he'll be the best coach weve sacked since David parkin.  His current record is better than Rattens in terms of win percentage.

Are we sure this is the right reign to be pulling?

On the what we have done lately measure maybe, but im not convinced.
Ratts though had to take over utter rubbish from Pagan late in the season then had to tank the last 6 games of 2007. Then lost the first 3 games of 2008. He was 9 behind before he started. Until 2011 we improved over the 3 years until the 2012 disaster. Other coaches haven't done that. Voss had half a good year in 2023 and a good 19 rounds in 2024. Been awful ever since.

He shouldnt have been sacked either though was my point.  Particularly with the benefit of hindsight.  We overestimated where we were at.  Actually, if you break it down into 5 year periods, that team had done all it was going to, and we should have started to rebuild on the quiet when we sacked him.  New strategy, not new coach and deliver a flag.  I feel as though we have started this on the bottom layer of our team (lots of kids picked up last year will hold us up in a few years when our top tier is no longer capable.  That cliff may have come early for a few, but I think they will be better next year.

I agree that the club tried to rebuild or plan for the future a bit on the sly this year, which was stymied a bit by senior players having poor years and a few falling away earlier than expected.  Now we need the club to seriously work on the attitude problem - because it's proven fact now - and if we are going to stick with Voss he needs quality assistance.  It's 2025, we need to be playing 2027 style footy. We won't win a flag following trends, we need to get ahead of the curve.

It's a proper joke, and Xerri being the target makes it an even bigger joke given his mode of operation is targeting opponents in this very manner with borderline sling tackles and massive bumps off the ball.

How does Xerri get through a game without penalty for throwing TDK into the fence?
The AFL media are beating up on Cripps and other players for not flying the flag when Xerri did what he did, which apparently was nothing according to the MRP! And who is the main protagonist in the AFL media, a former Norp legend?

I have to wonder what Cook thinks of all this, when he sees the way our club gets treated compared to his experience at the Geelong!

Just a short clip from Malthouse. Apart from his boo-boo about De Koning not playing, pretty neat summation IMO.

Who would you pick?
Who is available?
Experienced coaches only.
John Longmire, come on down......

Hmmm did not think of him. Could be a good choice. Although 4 or 5 GF and only one win.
Could we stand any more pain??
I did think of Simpson.
Thoughts?

Not sure if this was mentioned in this thread as i haven't read it all but did anyone else think McGovern 'come on' with only 2 mins on the clock and being 4 goals down after he goaled as a tell of how dumb he is or more worrying how poorly we are coached that a senior player has no clue the game was already shot when he tried to fire the boys up?

What a stark difference to a team like the Pies who have different gears that are used at precisely the right time to get them a chance to win  - while we appear to have NFI of what to do except the same bang and crash style regardless what stage the game is at. Yeah we may play a little more through the middle but hardly rocket science - You just knew GWS in the last quarter where going to change style to get the suns and they did it and got the win.

We are either the dumbest collection of footballers ever assembled or very poorly coached by a man that just does'nt have the tactics to employ when things are not going our way.

And when does Charlie cop it?  Our prima donna who is in the leader shop group (still cant understand who selected him in that group) - the guy needs an allmightly kick up the a5se for no defensive pressure or real want to attack the ball when he doesnt mark it. Bloke is a big part of our issue as his lack of effort runs thru the whole list.

Watch McStay's tackle late in St Kilda's game on Saturday on W-Millara where he had no right to lock on to such a fast nimble player yet he had the grit and want to give everything. I would show Mr Curnow that clip and say mate when was the last time you showed that effort.

Like Darling on Cerra?
Changed the course of the game.

Trying to read all the posts. Some great insight by this forum and we can go on and on but do we really understand what is happening behind those 4 walls? probably not.
All i can add is, i was at the game and Oh Dear Oh my.
I want our club to be a great club again but i just cant see this happening.
Is it because the power brokers at Carlton still believed that after our salary cap punishment the club could out out and do what the did in the 80s for success?
It took the club during the Malthouse days to relies that we needed to play by the AFL drafting rules to become relevant again and we did but still have not got this right.
This year has been a complete disaster, maybe we dont relies what those one or two or three injured players (no not the young kid. we know nothing about him yet) that we are missing, are leaving a gapping hole in the planning.
Maybe when the club sent Kennedy away some players spat the dummy and still maybe spitting.
Like i said earlier we have no idea what is going on behind those 4 walls.
Anyway on to Port. Still my club and always will be GO Blues

By his own admission, Matt Kennedy was not pushed out. If we're recruiting Jagga Smith to add some speed and variety to the midfield, someone has to make way, and it's not going to be Cripps, Walsh or Cerra. That leaves Hewett and Kennedy, and I guess one could argue it's a coin toss between the two. If Jagga wasn't injured, either one of them would've spent a lot of time in the 2's. As it turns out, both Hewett and Kennedy are playing very good football in the seniors at their respective clubs. It would not have been right for either of them to be languishing in the VFL. Win-win IMO.

Promised myself at age not to pull the violin out - I used to watch foot ballers at Princess Park as a kid , sad days were I am watching athletes (instead of footballers) who can't kick or handball on the non preferred let alone miss time after time set shots . Barassi and the like would have there guts for dinner were the player would eyeball the ump before he blew the whistle on the contest decision. Even on defeats back in the day more often than not you would see some magic / poetry through the game and exit the ground with some pride. Do I or anyone have the answer right now ?    Bring in a hard nut if you dont like it p off.

Your forgetting Toby Pink is a high quality opponent..er cough, clear throat...I think to be fair the delivery to Gunston would be of a higher quality that what Charlie gets each week. I think Chol is one of the leading F50 marks in the comp and Id put that down to high quality delivery rather than Mabior being a sensational FF.
