Having thought about it...
Don't promote anyone. ::)
Let them play and develop together at this level.
We don't want them demoralized by exposure to the senior side and their efforts.

BTW- Haynes is right.

I think we've all seen it with Moir.
It's one of those things were a player just looks a class above when he moves and with some of the things he does.
For those players with this X factor, sometimes the difficult looks effortless and just comes naturally.
The problem in the past has been that he's had trouble finding the ball.
That's improving.
It may not be time yet, but since he's been playing a bit on the ball he's looking like he could be the goods.
 

Yes Moir looked good. His work in the middle was good but I worry when/if he plays in the senior team. We kick backwards the opposition gets back we bomb it in and good movers like him don’t get chance to shine. If the balls coming in fast and he can move around use his flair then great. He won’t get as easy contested marks next level up. Nice game all the same and we need to find out what he can do. Really like the versatility with both feet.

Early on we looked a lot like the seniors, but then 'took the game on' with risk, dare and run, run, run. And created a good win.

With Crippa and Weiters both mentioning 'next 8 weeks' in their media interviews it would seem the club has given up on any finals aspirations. If so, gotta have a look at the kids at senior level.

We got to see more of Moir's footy IQ. Much better game. Put his hand up.
Pitto, after a slow start, took over in the ruck. Put his hand up.
Frankie E was dangerous and also put his hand up, which probably means we'll promote Durdin.
Liked Charleson's game, coming along nicely. Not yet.
Cow would be an automatic replacement for the concussion protocols Saad.
Ben C, once the digit was extracted, was influential. Maybe.
For mine, Lemmey still doesn't have enough 'authority' in his game... close, though. Nothing to lose giving him serious consideration - give him a taste. We already know what we're getting with Young (the obvious spot to be filled by Lemmey).
Carroll also put his hand up, but I'm a little biased... love his attitude.

I'm guessing the MC probably believes that we've already got enough kids in the side so would be conservative in making changes. Pity.

Have to reward good form - Cow and Evans for mine - Ben and Moir next in line but Moir is the type of player we need and get games into.

Evans is not fast enough, big enough or good enough for AFL - He is well suited to the VFL where he can tackle players who are standing still or who are slower than he is and not expecting to be run down.

Also like Charleson's poise and skills - might be a good player next year.

Also liked Moir's ability to take a contested mark (or two) - unlike Lemmey, a one-trick player with limited mobility who needs to be given the ball by way of an uncontested mark or a free kick.  At least he can kick the ball effectively but I doubt we have the senior players who can kick it to his advantage.

I Finally saw something useful from Monahan - seemed to have some poise and an idea of what was required of him - handball skills also seemed quite good - might still make a player if he is persevered with

Cowan straight back in for mine. Sooner the better.  He's too good for vfl level, and he's a tough competitor.  He'll get beaten a bit at afl level, but he's the type that will put his head where others won't.

Moir i reckon did enough to come in.   Very creative and way more involved with the odd stint on ball.  He can potentially do the Elijah role and probably possesses more of his skillet than others.

M. Carroll was ok.  Im not sure what it is about him i dont like but im not enamoured by him.   I think its because he's not overly physical.

Charleson was interesting.

Its hard to drop anyone on Thursdays effort.  We were so bad you could replace anyone who put their hand up and imho  a few did.



Lemmey is a straight kick, and a strong mark.  He's not a dominant player he's just a key forward.  Is he a good key forward at afl level?  He's not very mobile.  Will compliment Charlie.  I would rather him forward than young but he's a bit of a one trick pony.

Anyone know where EH is at? I think his class is sorely missed in the team?

No official word, but rumour has it he's out for the year.
Other rumours suggest he might not be wanted back next year.

Rob Monahan: Indeed, Monahan seems to be learning. His skills are still a bit hit and miss, especially by foot. His handball can be quite good. He is gaining in game awareness.
Matt Duffy: Further down the path than Monahan was last year, but you can tell he's still learning his craft. That said, while he isn't getting much ball, his opponents aren't either. He spent time on the Port resting rucks and did pretty well there, also on Jim Miller, the Port FF. Touched 2 kicks that would otherwise have been goals.

Harry Charleson: his best game so far, and he has definitely been on the improve. His kicking is deep and he isn't slow. Developing nicely.

As others have already noted, Ashton Moir was good last night. He is more engaged in the game and running out the game better. he isn't getting out-bodied so easily. His kicking is excellent and he is looking dangerous when he is in the centre square. His tackles count is up and he is holding onto more marks.
He still has a fair way to go, but his development, even compared to earlier this season, is obvious.

I liked Cowan's game. Now, if only he plays with that dash in the seniors!

Flynn Riley: as others have mentioned, his last half was much better than his first. He started holding onto some very nice contested grabs and he tried to move the ball on quite well. Even his ruck craft was improved. I guess it had to be: he was very ordinary early.

Indeed, very difficult to know where Elijah Hollands is at. There have been rumours, some ugly, but no real data to grab hold of. There also seem to be those who think he won't be back.

I wish him well and pray that he can get himself sorted out. He will need the time and space, probably out of the limelight, to do that. I’m sure the club will support him appropriately in his endeavours.

Plays forward and gets a run on the ball, he played well I thought  and made the most of his opportunities and tackled well.

We clearly have some talent at the young end of the list, why isn't this transferring to senior level?  It can't just be the old chestnut of the VFL being so much lower level than the big stage?
