The Dominator certainly didn't mince words about our effort. Fair to say he was disgusted and said it was so unfair our supporters.

Put it very much on the players.
Yes, said "play with some bloody pride and finish the season with some credibility as we have none now".

2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

I think the only thing you can say for sure is that with a different coach, things would be different,
Not necessarily better, not necessarily worse...(some would argue it couldn't be worse)
But different.
A classic example of that was when we made the change from Bolton to Teague.
Players went to different positions.
They were given different roles.
Paddy Dow's possessions went from high teen/ low 20s to single figures.

Only good thing with a new coach is we generally produce our best in their first year when enthusiasm is high. So best have everything in order. Voss, like Ratts, managed to keep it going a bit longer, even if it looked the typical falling away in the first 14 rounds of 2023 before the change at Ed's place.

Loved it, Loved that he and the Buzz would want to hurt the half backs by kicking goals against them or tackling and they new they got tackled.

"Carlton rank last for kicking efficiency, disposal efficiency, overall kick rating and kick rating for kicks going into the forward 50. They are second worst in kick rating for shots at goal."

Recruitment or Game Plan?

I would also include confidence and headspace issues. We were pretty good in 2023/24. Same players mostly, same coach.

Good question, and definitely something to do a LOT of work on.

Yeah I tend to agree Paul.   Even this season we have had patches of good football, only to be terrible in the next quarter or half.    Wonder if the reason we can't maintain it is a fitness issue.     Lack of fitness wouldn't help with hitting targets under fatigue.

Score more efficiently and we bank proably 2.5 more wins.

In most of our matches we kick more points than goals.

Thing is, in pretty much all of them we had early dominance not converted into scores, which kept our opposition in games.  Last few weeks have been terrible though.   Since Walsh went out of the team we have gone really badly.

Whenever I look at a result that we didnt get, I tally up a total scoring shots and then consider that even with a crap performance we likely should have won simply taking our chances better.

i.e.  Richmond round 1.  They scored 17 times, (13.4) us 24 times (9.15).
Hawthorn Round 2.  20 each (12.8 ) to (8.12).
North 19 times (13.6) vs 23 times (10.13).

The last few weeks are pretty ordinary though.  we have started conceding 30 shots a game, and are only really hitting for about 20.
