Jess dal Pos New Coach

No, not senior coach, but an assistant for the forwards for the girls. Development for the boys. Best wishes, as we need a lot of developing.

I'm sorry, I'm all for the girls having an footy competition, but dal Pos as a senior mens Development coach, is someone taking the piss or is the club dead broke?

I have no idea if she has any coaching capability or not. But I'm hoping those who employed her do have some idea.

To me this doesn't matter, and it's not really a criticism of Jess dal Pos, but to me the thing we need now more than anything are AFL experienced assistants who have top coaching ability, not a great coach with nil AFL experience.

Who pulled the MC strings this week, we put Wilson and Young to the sword having them debut in a half-ar5ed squad that left them high a dry!

We don't want our coaches to teach players how to mark and handball.
We need our assistants to teach players how to get the best out of themselves and the team.
That doesn't require a specific gender.

Maybe there are too many 'blokey blokes' in the MC that all think alike on how to get the best out of themselves. As most of us would know, the younger generation are ultimately more 'delicate' than the older generations and perhaps an alternative approach, from a woman, may unlock a way of thinking that the 'blokes' simply can't.

She's not the first woman assistant and won't be the last.
Doesn't hurt.
Might work.

Lets try it.

I understand, but the soft cap is limited, and perhaps after watching last night we do actually need to teach our squad how to kick, mark and handball!

I'd be sending our lot to Auskick!

I dont watch AFLW as it is just terrible in my view and our club is particularly bad. But this appointment is typical of Carlton and the reason we are crap. Jess was a player under the current coaches if Im not mistaken, what new and innovative ideas can she possible bring to change the teams fortunes? Terrible appointment to me.
2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

Soft cap is limited, sure, i'm tipping she would cost a lot less than most too.

For the record, she COULD teach them that too, but i'm tipping that is not expected of her

Sorry, is she working with the men or women?

I dont understand the outrage.  She's likely to be learning how to coach and you would have to know her intimately to know if she'd make a good coach.

Look at hawthorn.  All their assistants are from Carlton and they value them highly.  Hickmott, ratten, simpson.  They'd have every right to say why those spuds who know how to lose?  The answer is not obvious.

Dal Pos has been appointed as an assistant coach (forwards) for the Club’s AFLW side – she will also spend time as a development coach across the AFL and VFL programs.

Thanks krudd.  Stand by previous comment.  There's no way we know if she's good.

That sounds to me like her major reponsibility will be with the women, but she's been given exposure to the men's side of things as well...as part of her own development as a coach
Don't have any issues with that at all.
It will make for a better all-round coach.

For the record, Jess was essentially an assistant coach with us while she was playing, especially while injured.

She already has some experience in the role and some repoire with the girls and possibly guys as well.
