Yes, that's right. But I don't mind the Tribunal picking up things missed by the umps. Among other things, it mean they're trying to look after the players. We need more of that IMO. I'm not having this role model bullsh1t or special rules for special people. Quote Selected Last Edit: July 14, 2025, 03:58:31 pm by LP 1 Likes
Re: AFL Rd 18 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Brisbane Reply #99 – July 14, 2025, 04:03:59 pm Use the mechanisms available. You dont waste a list spot on a player anymore, you actually get a free hit at a top up, and it provides a method to continue supporting Elijah, keep him on the list, and not cost us. IMHO, I would be keeping him and trying to get him right. The problem begins with knowing how far gone he is. Obviously that cant continue forever, but you have to make provisions at times, and try get the player right, unless football is something that is no good for him. Quote Selected
Re: AFL Rd 18 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Brisbane Reply #100 – July 14, 2025, 04:11:29 pm It would be ironic for us to kybosh a player with personal issues, mental health or other otherwise, but who is largely free of injury.Especially given we have spent the last bulk of the last decade persisting with blokes who were physically broken. Re: AFL Rd 18 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Brisbane Reply #102 – July 14, 2025, 04:20:14 pm In fairness to our club, Stocker later said he was about to pull up stumps due to the impact of the pandemic on the AFL season. I believe our club advised him he needed to get away from football for the sake of his own sanity. After deciding he did not want to give it away yet, he stayed in football through the pre-season supplemental pick.If EH pulls the pin, it's his right to do so and we should respect it, if he wants to continue we'd be hypocrites to pull the rug. Re: AFL Rd 18 2025 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Brisbane Reply #103 – July 14, 2025, 04:35:17 pm There was another factor. Stocker was reportedly a bit full of himself after the trade SOS pulled to get him. A delisting may have knocked him down a couple of pegs.He also was another SOS player that has been an also ran from the first round. Ultimately, he only stepped away from the club in 2020, and we gave him 2 seasons to prove himself after that. My last memory of Stocker was him barely getting a touch, and not exactly getting near an opponent in a must draw/win match vs Collingwood in Round 23.Had a smidge of the FIGJAMS from all reports. Who knows for sure. We could sure have used him this season if he was willing to build a tank, but he hasnt been amazing for the Saints either. Id kind of forgotten all about him to be honest.
