Rising Star Nominee - Matt Carroll

Congratulations to Matt Carroll on his Rising star nomination 👏🏽 ⭐️

DASHING Carlton defender Matt Carroll has landed the final Telstra AFL Rising Star nomination of 2025.

Carroll, 19, produced another strong performance in the Blues' 34-point win over Essendon in round 24.

Agree, he gives effort and I like how he puts himself on the line in marking contests, needs to clean up some aspects of his game but its a good reward for his persistence.

Well deserved recognition!

It's worth looking back at Doc's assessment of "Jeff" being completely unprepared for life as an AFL footballer.  His injury-ruined first season probably saved his career and hasn't he made the best of his second chance?

I thought his game vs Port was far better but well done kid.

I haven’t heard this - what did Doc say?

Basically that Jeff wasn’t fit and didn’t realise what was required.  When he got injured, he thought rehab was a holiday program. Fortunately, Doc was in rehab too and took Jeff under his wing.  That’s why Doc said that it was “a proud dad moment” when Carroll forced his way back onto the list.
