Bucky has shown that he's not afraid to throw the team around ..............
Yes, I think he is a good coach.

He is not just formulaic and he is developing game tactics that suit the list, it makes a huge difference when you use players to the best of their ability.

Good coaches develop genuine tactics that suit a list, sh1t coaches copy a formula with load of fake ingredients.

Couldn't agree more.

Combined with a young group building cohesion through challenge, and here you are! They're all pulling in the same direction by using their individual strengths. Well done👏🏼

Another good win by the girls, particularly after the Bulldogs threw out a pretty strong challenge.

Sophie McKay has played four games and her shoulders have got more tape on them the Crippa normally wears.  What's going on there?

She played well though with two nice goals and a ripper mark.

Edmonds dominated the hitouts and they controlled the centre bounces but we smashed them in stoppage clearances.  Lots of our players chipped in too.

Good signs  :)

Actually went to the game. Darcy Vescio is a star. She reminds me of Jezza when he went to the half back flank. She is one player who can really kick the ball. Harrington is another star who actually understands the game. Almost kicked one of the best goals you are ever likely to see with a chip and charge. Sophie McKay's mark was a good mark in any competition.
They are still a work in progress but they are hard at it and the other teams seem to get hurt in the tackles. Looking at the ladder and the draw we really should be playing finals this year.

Indeed.. Hoping that her ability to jog off is a good sign.

Duursma on the other hand. I expect has a #clavicle.

Speedy recovery

I don't want to labour the point too much, but in terms of points, Vescio was the 5th lowest scorer from Carlton.
Below Darcy was...

Key forward - Bohanna
Key back - Scholz
2nd gamer irishwoman who played 21% game time - O'Connell
A player who got injured - Duursma

That's not the output of an elite player.
Thats the output of a player who once was elite and is now being swallowed up by the improving AFLW playing group.

Darcy did some good things, but the most impact they had all day happened to be transferred to Mimi Hills knee.
Not sure why Darcy felt the need to hip and shoulder Hill, but that could be very costly. Hope Hill is ok.

And that’s where watching the game gives a much better appreciation of a player’s contribution than statistics and “points”.

You can’t measure energy and impact without the ball but Darcy’s work enables others to shine.

I watched the game. I watched a 4th gamer in Sophie McKay do things that Darcy Vescio used to do.
I watched irish girls do things Darcy Vescio used to do.
If you saw it differently, so be it.
Vescio was not in the top half players on the ground.....and there is nothing wrong with that.

Once again, i'm just pointing out how far everyone else has come, not criticising Vescio.

Sophie's mark, which was reminiscent of Darcy's leaps (and Darcy almost took mark of the year against Hawthorn), was set up by Darcy getting to the ball first, executing a clean pick up on the run and in traffic, and nailing the handpass to the best option in Cordner.  Without Darcy's skill and quick decision-making, Sophie doesn't get to leap for that mark.  Cordner gets the goal assist but it was Darcy's work that created the opportunity.

And who had the most metres gained for us?  Fitzpatrick 360, Finn 345 and Vescio with 331.  Next best was Harrington with 319.  Darcy's rebound from defence is a critical factor in our success even if her highlights reel isn't as flashy as it was.

re bold....what you are saying is this....
Superman could only save someone from plummetting to their death if they jumped off the top of the building first. The person jumping made superman what they are today.

Anyone could've created that. Not anyone could've taken the mark.

Darcy ALMOST took a mark.....but didn't.
Darcy gave away a free kick for attempting one this week too and got nowhere near it.

I don't want to turn this into a Darcy bashing thread, because its not about that. Darcy is playing (almost) at the same level they always have.
However, everyone around Darcy has improved dramatically to the point where Daisy is a cameo player. You need good users of the ball behind the footy. Sure....but....
Darcy isn't doing the grunt work in the middle.
Darcy isn't hitting the scoreboard.
Darcy isn't taking big intercept marks in defence.

We have others doing that role and doing it very well. Its why we are 3-1 because we have a solid team who are working for eachother and all have a great level of skill and courage not seen in the team before. I think Darcy is just keeping the HB seat warm until Gab Pound returns, then we might see Darcy further up the field. I wouldn't mind her taking Duursmas spot who i think is not quite up to the rest of the teams standard at present.

Well, that’s your opinion, and you’re welcome to it.

I see the Darcy Vescio critics as no different to Harry McKay naysayers.

They carried on about dropping marks, missing targets, missing shots and tackles slipping, a lack of confidence causing indecision, and completely ignored the fact they are working hard and getting were the footy is.

The problem isn't the player in the above category, it's the "nulls" surrounding them, players who have no failures because they have few or no attempts.

The Irish lass Finn came in and was probably BoG, she never stopped working and it shows. As a newbie she'll have days were she keeps working and it all turns to shizen, but the important part is to keep working. It's interesting post game Finn had an interview in which she stated that she had offered that very advice to Sophie McKay who was struggling to have an impact. Vescio sets that example, as does Bohanna.

You say this, means you see nothing.

I've said numerous times that its not a criticism of Vescio, but kudos to those around Darcy.....league wide.

Not like you to skim posts and miss the point....  :P

Where do you think Vescio will place in the B+F this year?

Depends on what positions they play and what voting system is used.  If it's similar to the men, probably in the top ten or twelve.
