AFL Rd 4 2026 In game Angst Carlton vs North Melbourne

After last week, we really need to show something tomorrow.
North have a poor record on Good Friday, but we can't win 2nd halves.

Watching us kick out from 50 as well as kicking into the 50 is diabolical. no system at all. like watching a team without a coach.

Before this game, we had led more games than any other team at 1/4 time 2025-2026 season. The trend continues.


Unfortunately, a stat that followed soon after is that we have the most losses from a team that had the lead at quarter time.....and there was a fair gap to 2nd.

Wonder if the trend will continue

We need to get the balance of fast and slow plays right. Players need to be aware of their surroundings before making the decision to go or stop.

In the NFL, the tactics are huge. The way you play in the 1st half, sets up how you want to play in the 2nd half. Without getting too in depth, you do things repeatedly to get the opposition used to you doing things a certain way, then you switch it up later and catch them unaware.

IMO, the way we handle kickins very much has a similar look.

I reckon after half time, there will be a lot more run, carry and attack the middle from kickins.
For now, we are setting up the 'hug the boundary' kickout strategy.

The trick here is not to get too far ahead, or maybe even drop a few ponts behind at half time
