AFL Rd 5 2026 Pre Game Prognostications Carlton vs Adelaide

Sorry this one is a bit late.

We won't be starting favourites in this one, even though Adelaide have lost 3 games in a row and start like dead chickens.

I'm worried about the ruck, an area that Adelaide have dominated against us in recent times. Pitto alone against two rucks is not a recipe for success.
And our 2nd ruck last round was a real weakness, which cost us goals.

Adelaide's midfield have been ordinary so far, but can ours come to the party?

Adelaide will probably play their 3 tall forwards and we don't have the cattle to match them up. Weitering won't play, Dean is unlikely, Derksen had his issues in his debut and Lewis Young is what he is.

Reidy, who has been getting a lot of the ball lately, could have been in line for a return, but he was suspended in the VFL. :( O'Keefe is so far out of form that I don't want to think about it.

Flynn Young has to be brought in. He is the only guy who really deserves a promotion.

Hayworth's suspension we are challenging, but, to be honest, we wouldn't miss him if he missed.

Do we have someone to take out Rankin? He may not be in great form, but we usually play the opposition's best players into form by not picking them up.

I'm not looking forward to this one. I do not like Adelaide and they have had the wood over us even when they've been ordinary. I would really like to reverse this, but I just don't see it happening with our present side and playing style.

No need to be concerned.  When we were good and they were rubbish, they would knock us for 6.  Adelaide are a real bogey side for us, and if they dont win by 10 goals Ill be shocked.

Weitering’s absence may see Haynes back in the team to add some semblance of experience to the backline, Flynn Young sounds like he’ll be a certain inclusion as well. Nit looking forward to this game but we live in hope🤞
The Ox is slow but I'm running out of patience.

Adelaide copping it in the SA media on the rebound too makes it harder, a competitive 4 quarter effort might be the best we can hope for. That three prong tall forward line looks menacing for the Crows without Weitering, if our midfield are not firing its going to be difficult for Derksen, Haynes and L.Young.

I think one of Saad or Wilson will also play.

Is Haynes available, didn't he pull up sore in the VFL?

If Saad plays he cant go anywhere near Keays.....Wilson would be my preference to see what he has to offer in terms of progression from last season.

Jordan Boyd or cowan on keays please.  The other one to take rachelle or ranking.  If Saad plays i want him at half forward.
