Cooper Lord kicked three goals so not a bad effort all round from him, even if his opponent got a bit of the ball.

I only watched the last half of the last quarter so I can't really comment on player performances but, on the stats alone, Coops and Ben Camporeale are putting their hands up.

Ben C is exactly where he needs to be - doing an apprentice in the seconds and working on his game until the opportunity arises.

Walker coming in wont help him and Ben is purely an extractor so he probably needs a player like Hewett to be traded out as I cant see how he will be any higher in the pecking order next season. Im happy to persist with him as I like father/sons in the team but I dont know if the Campo clan are prepared to wait for him to get opportunities, ditto his brother.

Ben is about 10 years too late to the AFL party.
His type are not really required in the modern game.

I thought Lord did well and is unlucky to be out of the seniors imo, Ben Campos problem is his use of the footy and the depth in the seniors with regards his position. Not sure who is tutoring Ben but he needs someone like Greg Williams to put a bit of polish into his game and have the confidence to take his time a bit more, always looks rushed when taking his kicks and sprays them.
Interesting seeing Bowes and Worpel in the twos for Geelong, thought the former was very good and surprised he isnt in the seniors, didnt see much of Worpel... re: Riley.....I was happy with his game vs Stanley and he only needs opportunities to learn the game more quickly at the higher level.

Speaking of Williams...he had about 500 more handballs than he did kicks over his career.
He averaged 12.5 kicks to 14.5 handballs
Ben C does similar...he's averaging around 11 kicks to 15 handballs.
Disposal accuracy is less of an issue when he's handballing as opposed to kicking.
He may be more of a weapon developing that area further in the short term.

We need to see him at senior level soon and the best opportunities are in the coming weeks.
Otherwise there may not be a 2027 for him.

Ben has one string to his bow only and that's being a good extractor.
Maybe he can add being a tagger to his game if he can't impact offensively, I just think being an extractor only is a throwback to the past. Libba is about the only player I can think of who still plays that way...Tom Mitchell was probably the other until the speed of the game caught up with him..

I'm not confident he'll be on our list next year, he needs to show some point of difference to other's vying for similar positions.
So far we're not seeing it.
Lucas with his serious injury is probably more at risk because time is running out for him.

Think Ben C will be a decent player for some club, just has too many in front of him with his style of play with us. He'll win a bucketload of clearances, get his hands on it plenty of times but we have many of those. Hence why Kennedy isn't with us. Like to look at him in the seniors though before the year is out. Right now though he won't get in.

Cripps and Hewett will not last forever.  Our player development process has always been our achillles heel - hence we rely far too much on bringing in ready-to-play troops at high cost, unlike the top teams that uncover and develop their own talent.

Ben C is the perfect example.  In 2-3 years time when Crippa and George are done or needing a rest, we can have a ready-to-go replacement, provided he gets the right development over the next 18 months.  I can see a midfield of Jagga, Cody, Walsh, Ison, Lord and Ben C from 2029 onwards.
