I like his aggression but, instead of the late (unnecessary) bump that seems to surface from time to time, he needs to sell those actions as an attempt to smother or adversely effect the kick.

You almost wanna keep them in just to keep the opposition honest.

Its a bit like Robbo back in the day. You never know when he's going to bury someone. Sometimes it will give away a free, other times the perceived pressure results in a turnover.

Keep them guessing. Can't always be 'nice'.

Yep was going to say this.  You need a wild streak with controlled aggression.

I may have gone a bit early with my call to sack Josh Fraser, but I did call for Voss to be sacked the day he was appointed so it is always good to get ahead of theses things.
For the first quarter and a half it was back to the good old Carlton we have come to love in frustration, but I thought half way through the term we started to turn it around with regards to endeavor. I am not sure we were fully turned on at the start of the game and we seemed to be happy with our performance last week against Geelong and we seemed to play like we were thinking about the bye. Ainsworth, Hayward and Florent have all added to our leadership depth on the ground spreading the load. We had six young guys, in Wilson, Dean, Smith, Cowan, Ison and Byrne, and three others with little AFL experience in Evans, Young and Derksen, but the other 14 players should now all be hardened professionals and play like it. I am looking forward to when we have HOF playing with Dean and Weitering in defence along with Wilson and Cowan.
Finally, could some one please explain Walsh that when you are in front with about a minute to go in the match and you have the ball in your hand, then you hang onto the ball.

Interesting that Jagga Smith still felt the need to credit Vossy for win in his post match interview.

I wonder if the club will put a stop to that.

I made a comment about that earlier.

Josh Fraser has also done it himself.
....there have been others.

Its almost like the coaching/playing group are standing as one in voicing their opinion that perhaps he was hard done by.
Maybe the powers that be at the club should start to take note of this.
Puts the incoming coach in a poor position from day 1. Similar to Malthouse after Ratten.

When clubs try to rewrite history is usually when they fall off the shelf.

They need to control the narrative, but in the process they must not ostracise the talent. The smart thing to do is for the club to shut down the ridiculous media and fan commentary by recognising the Voss contribution. Otherwise it will end up with egg on it's face yet again, and further disgruntled players wanting to move! ;)

As a club to make genuine progress we must stop the rinse and repeat, and further to that we must stop acting like Cortés and burning our ships every time we make change. Why can't we have a Carlton that has good will with those who have contributed in the past?

On Fraser's comments, I had wondered if he really doesn't want to the job, because tactically his comments about Voss basically put him at loggerheads with the club Admin.

There will be just as mamy within that wont be as glowing on voss its just they arent able to say it.

I remember players saying after malthouse was sacked he was their best coach yet most think he only came to us for his retirement dollars.

Players thoughts on past coaches are only ever mentioned when there positive so impossible to get a accurate read.

Thats why i go off the scoreboard

Particularly if it's an out of work former coach and there's a taint of collusion.

A transition to Josh Fraser would most likely be seamless ... but that is unlikely at this stage,  An assistant coach from another club, Adrian Hickmott for example, would probably be accepted wih open arms.

While Champion Data's analysis confirms that Fraser and the players are correct in acknowledging Vossy's role in laying the foundations for our winning streak, the ongoing voicing of that acknowledgement could become a distraction.  Perhaps it is time to rule a line under the Voss era. The best way to do that may be for the club to give Vossy the credit that's due and move on.  Of course, that could draw more attention to the club's amateurish handling of Vossy's resignation.

They can't avoid the controversy now, they backed themself into a corner, either way rocks are being gathered up with any trivial excuse to throw them.

What the club's needs to think about is not so much time trying to explain and justify the past, the more they try to justify decisions the stupider they look.

It needs to focus on the future and how to move forward without shooting itself in the foot again!

Too many fans think giving credit where it is due is some sort of first step in back peddling, that's just a foolish assumption they make. There is no going back, but you have to learn from mistakes to go forward, and the first step is learning not denial.

Of course, things can work the other way as well, for example exonerating some for the mistakes of the past simply because they are past favourites, that can be a mistake too, a mistake we currently see being made at CheatsFC.
