Jim Park Voting AFL Rd 15 2026 Carlton vs GWS

Voting is as usual: you have 15 votes to award pretty much as you will, with the following provisos:
[1] 15 votes in total, no more, no less.
[2] No more than 10 votes for any one player (even Sam Walsh or Patrick Cripps)
[3] Three players at least must get a mention.
[4] A grade for the game, A+ (what I want to see) to F-.

AFL Rd 15 2026   Carlton vs GWS in Sydney

Rating:    A-
We may have dominated the game for much of it, but our forward work is still very much in need of improvement. Until we can kick the goals to put teams away, we will remain less than what we could be.
That said, we did manage to put away a good team at home, which is something we have struggled with in recent times.

Votes:
Not for the first time, it is difficult to give votes for this game simply because we have so many contributors. It has been a trend we’ve seen in recent years as we share our votes out more than we did when I started analysing the voting. It is also a trend I don’t mind seeing, as I don’t want us to be to dependent on a couple of stars.
[1.5]   Patrick Cripps
[1.5]   Sam Walsh
[1.5]   George Hewett
[1.5]   Harry Dean
[1]   Jagga Smith
[1]   Nic Newman
[1]   Blake Acres
[1]   Lachie Cowan
[1]   Wade Derksen
[1]   Nick Haynes
[0.5]   Oliver Florent
[0.5]   Matthew Cottrell
[0.5]   Will Hayward
[0.5]   Brodie Kemp
[0.5]   Billie Wilson
[0.5]   Francis Evans

Explanations:
[1.5]   Patrick Cripps:      33 possessions, 3 tackles, 7 clearances, another excellent game and part of a dominant midfield group.
[1.5]   Sam Walsh:      34 possessions, 2 tackles, 5 clearances, and another really strong game.
[1.5]   George Hewett:   30 possessions, 4 tackles and 5 clearances were another sign of his return to form.
[1.5]   Harry Dean:      Harry did a fantastic job of keeping Cadman quiet and providing drive himself.
[1.5]   Jagga Smith:      26 possessions, 1 tackle and 6 clearances rounds out a great midfield effort.
[1]   Nic Newman:      Very much back in form, if a little slower than he once was. 25 possessions, 12 marks and an excellent defensive job.
[1]   Blake Acres:      Blake was excellent again, running up and down his wing.
[1]   Lachie Cowan:   Strong in defence.
[1]   Wade Derksen:   Probably his best game so far, he got possessions and kept his opponents quiet.
[1]   Nick Haynes:      Another excellent effort in defence.
[0.5]   Oliver Florent:      His disposal may not be perfect, but he’s been playing well and providing a lot of drive.
[0.5]   Matthew Cottrell:   His best game for some time.
[0.5]   Will Hayward:      Another solid effort, with some important goals.
[0.5]   Brodie Kemp:      Kemp could have been a total matchwinner, but 1 goal 5 ruined an otherwise fine effort.
[0.5]   Billie Wilson:      Another solid game in defence.
[0.5]   Francis Evans:   Got the goals that he has struggled to get at times this year. A fine job.

Honourable Mentions:
Adam Cerra:         Cerra has been good since he moved to the wing.
Ben Ainsworth:      Another good effort. His first goal was magical.
Mitch McGovern:      Worked hard, but the goals didn’t come.
Marc Pittonet:         A strong effort, even though he was beaten on the day.
