AFL Rd 20 2026 Post Game Prognostications Carlton vs Gold Coast at Marvel

Great win, average footy.

A very good weekend for the club. All four teams won. Great effort by all the gals and guys.

Scrappy game by two average teams but at least we got the win. Same old issues and we still have much work to do. Enjoy the wins when we can though. 😁
Reality always wins in the end.

Always nice to win but what about wanting it bad enough rather than just doing enough, get ahead then take the foot off the throat. Could have won by near anything we wanted but "chose" not to.

Where is that real fanatical desire we had in 5 of the first 6 weeks. The high pressure, the team defence. Not there the last 4 weeks. Shouldn't complain about 8-2 but I have...lol. 9 wins equals last year.

A wins a win. It was ugly, especially scoring (12 behinds) and sometimes the intent to attack the footy seemed off.
Onto next week I guess.
2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

I take any win but we know we are better than that. We saw that 5 weeks ago. It's time to show it, not turn up and do just enough.

Jim imo our goal kicking is a major factor in our struggles. We are putting ourselves under the pump and are unable to get the buffer that allows us to play more fluent footy. We fight for survival rather than consolidating victories.

I have never seen our kicking at goal so poor. There must be someone who can kick straight. Last week was one week it really cost us badly. We have patches against the Pies where we were right on top but kicking at goal stifled us. Then they go down the other end kick one out of the @rse and our head would drop again. Their 14.6 made our kicking look even worse.

It's sort of the way of modern AFL, the balance between having a crack and execution seems to have gone out the window.

Every game seems like a roll of the dice!

Couple of good things for me, Derksen and Young greatly improved, they now offer genuine KPP support, Byrne starting to look comfortable at AFL level.

Lord, Akers or Cotters might struggle to keep a spot, could be time to give one of the Campo's a run. As great as Akers is at winning a contest, his disposal and some of his decisions are equally bad, he must be a real point of contention for the MC.

Yes, this giggly forward handball, play-on-at-the-speed-of light-footy can get pretty ugly IMO.

Acres would have the coaches singing his praises out of one side of their mouths and hissing disparaging abuse out the other. The most frustrating player on our list IMO.

To me he's a player that has performance inverse of the available time and space, the more time he has the more ways he finds to trip over his own foot.

I think he needs the old "Stop thinking, just do something!"

Taking the first option could be a good start.

Frustrating game to watch as skills by both teams was average at best and our kicking for goal was crap again. Should have won by 5-6 goals imo.

Positives are the kids. Byrne jagga Dersken dean wilson all played big roles.

Weitering loss is massive but win the amount of games we have with such a young defence can only fast track their development and is great for the future.

8-2 is an amazing effort considering the position the group was in and a winning culture is good culture regardless if the team played to their peak or not so im happy.

Surely kemp doesnt get another game off that display. Hes confidence is shot and has become a momentum and moral killer.

Give one of the key kids another run.

The trend of beating poor teams continues.

GC were very poor, despite being good in front of goal.

Kemp not only has the yips in front of goal, he is scared to even have a ping at them.
At least twice he passed to people in worst positions than him, just so he didn't have to shoulder the responsibility of taking a shot himself.
Someone needs to get him a shrink, quick.

Lewis Young looked better in the air than Harry does.....maybe it was the opposition?

Talor Byrne continues to make the extra step which results in laying the tackle, rather than just touching an opponent....and is getting rewarded.

I can't recall how many free kicks we got for holding the ball today, but i'd suggest its our season high.....and there was still a couple that they missed.

Harry Dean is playing with the experience of a 100 gamer. He'll be telling Weitering what to do if he ever returns. Exceeded all expectations. Today wasn't his best game either, but his opponent is about the toughest he'll ever face, so you take that.

Jagga can not touch the ball between now and the end of the year and still win the rising star. His poise and balance is elite. He'll win a brownlow someday. IMO, he's aready overtaken Walsh in the midfield heirarchy.
Jagga had equal most touches on the ground, and 2nd best disposal efficiency of the 46 players, despite having the 2nd most contested possessions in navy blue (behind Cripps of course)......and its effectively, his first year!

The young kids won us the game today IMO.

Watched a bit if the VFL today, we have zero options to replace him with.

Sorry, guys, I didn't do the threads this morning. I haven't been on the computer until now. I should have done them last night!

I can only offer my mist sincere apologies.

I guess I should be thankful that we won!
