Billy Wilson is the rising star this week.

That's 4

How good is that.

Can we ask Austin to come back?

One of the highlights of the game for me was Ollie Hollands’ run-down tackle to save a certain goal. It was even sweeter because I suspect that the victim may be guilty of drinking his own bathwater.  Then there was Lachie Cowan busting his gut next to Ollie and almost in a position to tackle Voss too, then Billy Wilson and Adam Cerra joining the party and giving it to Voss.  Of course, Ollie blotted his copybook by roosting his freekick OOBOTF, but that’s what you get from Ollie.

Lachie Cowan got his chance in the third quarter after Voss put Dean down off the ball.  He didn’t miss it and crunched Voss who then had Derksen, Weitering, Hollands and Dean in his face and probably politely suggesting that getting rough with Dean has consequences.

Brodie Kemp’s game was a highlight for me. Not only did he kick three goals to lead our goal kicking at the end of the home and away season, his heads up play inside 50 led directly to two more goals, he had six inside 50s and eight score involvements.

Frankie Evans played the perfect small forward’s game with crumbing goals, clever leads, straight kicking, hard running, one goal assist, two inside 50s and nine score involvements.  His last goal was a cracker that started with a crunching run-down tackle from Byrner that jarred the ball free, enabling Cottrell to gather and handpass to Kemp.  Kemp spotted McKay on his own in the pocket and nailed the pass.  Meanwhile, Frankie took off from the defensive side of the centre and, with some hard running, was perfectly placed to receive the handball from Harry and slam through his fifth to make a well-earnt bag.

My next highlight might seem relatively mundane.  With about ten minutes to go in the third quarter there was a kick down the line to Weitering and Treacy.  Derksen left his man, Voss, and went third man up to smash the ball out of bounds about 40 metres away.  Weiters gave Derksen a pat on the head and the two of them jogged back to defensive 50 with huge grins on their faces.  I could imagine Weiters saying to Derksen, “Yes, that’s exactly how you should kill to the ball!”

Finally, there was the shot of our bench in the last quarter with Fraser having the luxury of resting Weiters and a happy Weiters looking very relaxed and sharing a laugh with youngsters Coops and Jagga.

Great win and go Blues!

I will never grow tired of watching the Ollie Hollands chase down tackle. A couple of our boys after the game said Marvel stadium has never been louder.

That stumble by Voss was gold, in days gone by he may gave gotten away with it but the manic desperation of Ollie and co typifies the turn around in the teams approach to every contest under Fraser, they seem to enjoy the hunt more than ever.
The Ox is slow but I'm running out of patience.

Was right in front of us, crowd went ballistic.
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership
2026-Slow start, we can kick after all, why not?

PS kicked the resultant free kick out of bounds on the full but lets not let that take the shine off a tremendous effort.

Covered 14.6km for the day I might add, highest distance on the day.

I reckon after that chase down he would've been stuffed. He's not the greatest kicker at the best of times, but his legs were probably spent at that moment.

The thing that I liked from that bit of play was there were two of them in the chase and they didn't give up.
And the next two to the contest were also Carlton players.
Which meant if Voss wanted to have a shot back, he was pretty outnumbered.

That will be a highlight shown at our club for a long time to come. That not just one, but two guys made that chase and drilled Voss was exceptional.
And that Voss was pumbled in similar fashion later in the game should also be celebrated.

Yep. By the end of the game Voss was quite subdued.
Reality always wins in the end.
