Re: NFL Crapfest Reply #15 – September 16, 2026, 04:22:41 pm I shook Frasers' hand, level 1, outside the (re-purposed) Members Dining Room. He was drinking a can of Carlton and was wearing a sweatshirt (no hood), looked really relaxed. I said "thanks for what you have done for our club", shook his hand, and quickly moved on. He was very gracious! Quote Selected 5 Likes

Re: NFL Crapfest Reply #17 – September 18, 2026, 11:55:46 pm Agree with the Rams, GTC - they didn't want to know about. Bit odd considering Australia is part of their assigned international territory. 49ers embraced it - be good to have them here again. One of their media pack has you tube of trying Australian foods - he didn't like tomato sauce, but liked Vegemite.Apparently, there are quite a few international games - my son was saying London (3), Germany amongst other places. The theory behind their decision to stick with their usual routine and their local timezone is sound, but the different daylight hours will get you. Of course, that meant that they weren't involved in promoting their franchise and the NFL and that was the point of the exercise. Quote Selected

I've been travelling the globe for decades and I've never heard such rubbish, daylight hours rule not holding the time zone you exist in.In my experience, the people who know what to do are the airlines, if you eat when they offer you food, if you sleep when they dim the lights, you'll be in about the best possible condition you can get. It's the Norbit's who push back and watch movies or News all night long that suffer! As an aside, NASA have been trying this stuff for decades, the Mars lander crew live on a 25hr day so that every week is like a shift change and they operate like zombies. They do it because a Mars day is close to 24.7hrs.When I was with News Ltd, we worked Newspaper hours, which can be anything from around the clock to 4am starts. You had to have a room setup with blockout everything just to survive, and the best time of day to play or practise sport was dawn. Most of us slept in two sessions, which before the invention of electric lighting was apparently the normal way to exist, with a 1st and 2nd sleep. After all, he is a sleep physician with over 20 years' experience in clinical practice. For the record, he maintains that, for the approaches taken by the 49ers and the Rams, "Each has a rationale, and either strategy is valid." Furthermore, Allen Sills, the NFL's chief medical officer, confirmed that both teams had engaged sleep experts to formulate their approach. The Rams' followed the same strategy last year when they flew to London on the day of their game, thrashed against the Jaguars 35-7, and returned home without needing to stay in a hotel. Of course, flying to Melbourne is a different kettle of worms than flying to London. Quote Selected

Personally travelling east is always more exhausting than travelling west, and I would write off the first 24 hours than expect anyone to be at their best after 17 hours in the air. Quote Selected

What he was pointing out was that both approaches were based on sleep science and expert advice. The 49ers' expert took the points this time. Quote Selected
