It's an old saying "I'll be glad when this nonsense is all behind us"

I suspect a lot of folks are thinking that it will be a good thing when this election is over and out of the way and we can get back to normality.
But....
This is one of those situations when the aftermath may be even more chaotic and worse than the campaign and voting day.
Whoever wins, we're going to see a 'ruckus'. ::)

Kamala is about as inspiring as porridge.
The Orange One is about as honest as a piranha declaring it's a vegetarian.
How did a couple of bozos get to compete for the top job in the US? Their bozos make our bozos seem like they're almost normal!

I agree with you, Principal LODS, that regardless of the result of the election there may very well be on-going reprisals, accusations ...maybe even fighting in the streets.

Personally, I hope the bland one wins... I'm suffering from Trump-fatigue... in blunt, Aussie terms... bullsh*t fatigue. Plus, there's a part of me that just dislikes enormously rewarding sociopathy with authority, reprieve and no accountability for so many crimes. Get your sh*t together US, you're better than this.

One of the peculiarities of the US system is that the majority of the states are already "declared" for one side ot the other.
People are looking at a handful of 'swing states' where the election will be decided.
Maybe some of those 'written off' states aren't so written off and may swing in an unexpected direction.

Yes, I agree. But in terms of what the people want, they are all popular policies and positions. You only need to look at polls and look at someone like Bernie Sanders. Both he and his policies have broad popular appeal, even if they are IMO, fairly tepid. Yet the DNC a few years back could not remove him from the nomination fast enough. The standoff between him and Lloyd Blankfein is now the stuff of legend, the latter pretty much indicating that he would vote for Trump if Bernie got the nomination. Blankfein and Bill Ackman are the types that now control the Dems. They pour millions into the Dems, and expect a return. The Republicans of course have been useless for ages because they are completely insane. Horrible country.

In the Australian political scene the Dems would be aligned with the Coalition and the Republican party with people who watch Sky After Dark.

It's really quite simple. 

In 1976, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution requires the government to provide medical treatment for prisoners.  That's all governments, Democrat, Republican or otherwise.  Two recent court cases have ruled that some federal and state prisoners must have gender-affirming surgeries.  Again, that's regardless of who is the government. 

The only way that your misogynistic, senile, serial bankrupt, convicted felon can avoid allowing prisoners to have gender-affirming surgery at government expense is to amend the US Constitution or convince the US Supreme Court to overturn the 1976 judgement.

Man. The campaign seems to go for 4 years. There is going to be a whole lot of palaver afterwards as well.

GOP are not going to be humble in victory, nor gracious in defeat. Don't think Dems will be humble either, not sure how they will handle defeat.

This will continue the chasm in the US and not start bring the country together.

When you factor in primaries and what not, they do indeed seem to be in a semi permanent election cycle.

It doesn't matter if it's the USA or Australia or the Republic of Bimbombey
You can have the best policies in the world.

But if you can't get yourself elected your fine policies are just a bunch of meaningless words.
(unless the other mob steals them. ;)  )

Nothing either side says they will do, will get done, if they don't get the votes.
So they will tell you a lot of stuff, some of it they'll do, and a fair bit they'll renege on (but often promise to do  the next time around.)

I'm tired of it all.

Part of me knows if Trump doesn't win, he'll likely be a repeat of this in 3 years.

If he does win, it will be intriguing what happens at next election. 

So I'm hoping for a Trump win because this madness will end with two terms and maybe some semblance of normal will happen.

Most of the time it's irrelevant anyway.

Except he has already announced an intent to change the laws so he can have a longer term or additional terms.

He can't be trusted to step quietly aside when his time is up.

I don't think that he can do that unless he has some overwhelming majorities in the congress, and he wont get that.
