Trump should remember that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Alienating just about every other country on planet Earth is a silly, short-sighted and naive stance from the orange one.

There are already strong rumblings that Commonwealth countries are looking to strengthen relationship knowing that the US can no longer be relied up in so many ways.

So, after appearing to give the crew of Elon "Mr Goose Step Nazi Salute" Musk unfettered access to the Treasury, NSA and CIA, after all that, now RedTrump's crew say "Hang on a Minute!"

All it cost Musk was $125M, mere chicken feed for foreign countries security agency, that price is just one third(1/3) the cost of a single F22 Raptor(US$360M) has undone the USA's fly and dropped it's trousers ready for a jolly good rogering!

The MAGA Nutters are upset about what they know Musk now knows about, and remain utterly oblivious to the stuff they don't know he now knows.

When RedTrump carries on about saving Million$ or even Billion$, it's really just chicken feed on a sovereign scale. Economies the scale of a country can win or lose many times such amounts overnight or over lunch!

Trump has launched some airstrikes against the Houthi's in Yemen.
The Houthi's have responded by attacking the carrier USS Harry S Truman.

It will be interesting to see Trump's response.
It may be a setting up for a demonstration of American fire power.

The ultimate narcissist has outdone himself with his cry baby outburst over a portrait of him on display in Colorado.  Well, it was on display but has now been removed in response to Aurangzeb’s tanty 🙄

While we can have a laugh at the portrait fiasco, the national security breach is no laughing matter.

Apart from using an insecure platform and involving the editor of the Atlantic, the most disturbing aspect of this clusterfek is the use of emojis in the response to the mission plan; let’s bomb the crap out of some third world revolutionaries/terrorists and have some fun while we’re at it.

A narcissistic, misogynistic, cognitively impaired, convicted felon surrounded by an incompetent, content-free cabinet; what could possibly go wrong?

A narcissistic, misogynistic, cognitively impaired, emotionally pubescent, convicted felon surrounded by an incompetent, content-free cabinet, sycophants; what could possibly go wrong?

Hope you don't mind my couple of additions to your sharp and apt description of the Orange One.

Let's carve it to the bone. Trump is a game show host, and very good at it. Being a TV star is his talent and goal. Charismatic, entertaining, seductive and colourful. Credit where it's due. And these characteristics, let be charitable, are very appealing to let's say IQ challenged folks. Good but uncomplicated (didn't want to say 'simple' ;) ) folks who want their daddy to fix everything for them.

As for business acumen, let's just say Donald is very fortunate that his father was born before him. As a leader he has the vision, intelligence, courage, empathy, accountability and morality of a limp noodle. All Donald wants, at his core, is to be adored, admired and really, really popular. Any wonder he surrounds himself with the very definition of sycophants.

As you say, David, 'what could go wrong' ...with kiddies running a nation!

Is Lord of the Flies still on the school curriculum, or is it banned?

Not that it would do RedTrump much good, he apparently can't read more than a line or two without drifting off!

$160Bn wiped off Australian shares!

Does anyone still think that electing the narcissistic, multiple bankrupt, misogynistic, cognitively challenged, pathological liar and convicted felon was a good thing?

Those who have cash to buy the dip would be happy but you wonder where it will all end with countries set to fight back with their own tariffs and the flow on effect for all of us..

World markets hate uncertainty, which Trump offers (with certainty).  Eventually other countries will tire of his game and not be bothered with him and create new markets excluding US.

Mostly tarriffs are added to protect an industry that already exists.  Adding a tarriff to Champagne only increases the cost of Champagne, because by definition, it can only be made in a particular region of France.

There are a heap of products that are going to be more expensive because the US can't manufacture them.  How long does it take to set up the infrastructure to enable the US to make it all - and then - at what cost - to the public and employees.  Is their industry going to be big enough for significant competition?

For those that have retired with their super now - hope you can all hang on - it may be a little bumpy for a while.

Or is it just a big money making opportunity for the already very wealthy that are in his pocket?

Uncertainty is the key.

The month prior to an election is usually turbulent for the asx.  We are there now.

The tariffs have contributed to this, but the market will price that in and rebound quickly enough.  Generally everyone is aware of what tariffs mean and you get a giant over reaction on the markets.  This is temporary.  All this will turn around in a month.

Donald is Donald.  He is doing things for the sake of doing things or doing them with goals we can't ascertain right now.  He's as useless as every president that has come before him and will come after him.

Once the tariffs get priced in, and once the Aussie election gets through we'll likely see a bounce back of similar size.

Bounce back might take longer as countries have to formulate their response, either fall into line or fightback.
