Love how we were relentless all day.  Players must get a lot of confidence from being allowed to make mistakes as long as they follow up and don't drop their  heads.

Early 1AW seemed to give a spray to a bad kick that should have gone to him,  but that seemed to be all.  Several Tuohy skill errors were just followed up with second and third efforts.   This was replicated all day.

Great to watch!

Sheik, don't go near a radio, TV, mobile, tablet or computer on game day for the rest of the season... there's a good chap ;)
I think there will be some people who say that t me too. I missed my 2nd week in the row: one disaster and one brilliant performance. I followed last week as closely as I could, but I didn't even turn the computer on today until 27 minutes into the last quarter. What a shock! Dopamine hit in a HUGE way.

We messed up drafting Hampson at 18, but trading him out for Docherty was genius
Hampson is in career best form for Richmond: they have got more out of him than we did. However, the question would now be, what could Bolton have got out of him?
That said, the deal that got us Docherty has already proved its value. He looked so so at Brisbane, but he has improved each year he has been with us and is really showing the spirit we wanted. His comments last year about us supporting the boys showed he cared for the club even though we were at our lowest ebb.

Scott reckoned they gave away too many free kicks, but I wonder how much of that differential was getting pegged with the ball by great Carlton tackling.

I am worried about the lad.  He ducked his head a couple of times today.  Perhaps when he builds up more this part of his game will fade, let's hope so.

Well spotted chalky.....that attempted mark he dropped deep in defence in the 3rd quarter (or may have been 1st quarter.....but it was down the 'Carlton end') whereby he clearly ducked his head & dropped what would've been an uncontested mark.....wasn't the best look. Sorry to be devil's advocate on such a joyous occasion, but it happened & should be mentioned.

Cmon Brettie, you're better than that.

I saw a Geelong trainer bring out a roll of toilet paper to both Taylor and Kolodjashnij at different stages.....just sayin' :D

.....(and I thought it was a poor crowd)

Agree with this......reckon the Club would be disappointed with just 33,500 at this fixture.

To me Weitering didn't look right - he didn't look confident from The get go, which I assume was because he wasn't feeling great or didn't he injure his leg early?

In the social club at the end when some of the boys walked towards the stage he had his head down the entire time whereas the other boys were heads up and stopping for some Fans that got in their way or high fived them.

He seemed... Run down or I don't know how to put it, just withdrawn I suppose. I think he's injured.

Atmosphere was good but nothing like that Port game - that game was on an electricity scale similar to the Richmons elimination final but with 20k fans rather than 95k!

I agree and said as much in the in game thread - however the AFL app tells Me we got 22-11 free kicks!!

We seemed to not get a lot that we should've gotten - holding the man, holding the ball, etc

Just watched the AFL app highlights and about 4 times in the first half the commentators are questioning why frees weren't paid for HTB against Geelong - one time a commentator says gee they seem to be getting a lot of leeway here.

Makes the win even more enjoyable!

He's not big on the socialising stuff, he'd prefer to play the game then go home to the family. He's quite shy off the field, doesn't drink and doesn't like drunks.

More of a Bruce Doull type than a Jimmy Buckley.

I'm betting there were a few pissheads in the social club! ;)

Yep Well maybe that was all - must clarify that the fans weren't drunk or obnoxious, they were well behaved... First time I've been in the social club, love how the club has opened that up after games and yea saw the President, Trigg, SOS, McKay, barker, Bolton around - not for long but was nice to give the boys all a very big cheer.

Went to the game, and have the following observations.

Firstly, with 48,000 members, how can it be that we can only get a TOTAL of 33,000 at the game. In fact, the crowd didn't even look that big, and then I remembered  that they count all the medallion club in the attendance figures even if they don't turn up, because the home team get the money for the medallion club member for the game they are playing.

Secondly, Sam Rowe. Not one disposal up to half time, but I have to give him credit for playing about as well as he can, on Hawkins. mind you, Hawkins missed two sodas in the first quarter which he should have kicked. I noted with interest, Bolton's comments about Rowe, saying effectively, that we will see if Rowey can improve as a footballer. That's why I love Bolton. he sees what most of us see.

Thirdly, I have taken the time to read all your comments and unless I am mistaken, no one has pointed out one of the major reasons that we won today. WE KICKED STRAIGHT. They had one more scoring shot than us, but we beat them, because the old adage that bad kicking is bad football, was shown to be true yet again. They missed some very easy set shots, and it killed them. The first quarter says it all. They had 5 more scoring shots than us, two of those were set shots by Hawkins, and kick 6.3 to our 4 straight. Yes, scores were level, but do any of you think with our lack of man power, we could have won if we were still 4 goals straight, but they had kicked 6.3, giving them a 15 point lead at quarter time and a totally different mental attitude to the game? I strongly doubt it. In fact it is the first time that we have kicked over 100 points this year.

Fourthly, the spirit and determination from even blokes who are not the greatest footballers, is something to behold.

This man Bolton, is thus far, proving to be the greatest selection of a coach since we appointed Ron Barrassi in 1965 who then won us our first flag for 23 years, and another after that.

The support from those around me was deafening. I was actually sitting next to two elderly Geelong supporters. The husband said to me, " you know, we have tried to buy another flag. But it isn't going to work. Your mob have got the right idea. Our players are old and getting older by the day, and we don't have any young decent ones coming through".

It hit home how much the club have done the right thing by sacking that dud Malthouse, cleaning out 15 pieces of deadwood, and putting a broom through the place.

From what I have been told, expect up to another 10 to be shown the door at the end of this year.

It won't be easy next week. That ground takes a lot out of teams, particularly if you only have 20 fit players running around, and like the North game, we only have about 6 and a half days to recover.

Brisbane were great against the Hawks and they have beaten us before at Etihad when we were expected to win.

I hope the boys can get up after this win and beat the Lions, then the Saints, and go into the bye 7.5.

This would have been unthinkable at the beginning of this year.

With Charlie Curnow, Mackay who hasn't played a game and Phillips to come back, we look to have a great future ahead with more to come.

GO BLUES!!!!!

A very proud and happy Bluebagger here after todays win !!  :)

Today's game is a great example of why I don't do tipping anymore. I would never have picked the Blues today, but I am oh so glad that we got up!

Gibbs, why are you so frustrating?! In the 2 games I have seen live this year, he has been pretty ordinary I thought, and then he comes out and puts on displays like he did today! I would love to see him win all Australian selection this year, here's hoping!

Kreuzer & Casboult, welcome back boys !!

I kept silent when Rowe was being criticized earlier in the year, I knew he was capable of much better form, and now he is showing it, and our defense is a lot better for it.

Nice to see Gorringe show something, a very solid contributor today.

Really happy for Army to have a good day and kick a few, he played his role well today and reaped the rewards.

4 goals is a good return for Everitt, it's pretty hard to complain about his game when he is doing that!

So many guys stood up today, it's going to be hard to spread the votes around, but a great team effort, keep it up and we will win more than we lose, all things considered.

Go Blues !!
