There is significant irony in Ivan Cleary, coach Penrith and father of Nathan Cleary, complaining that Storm's Harry Grant played for a penalty!

It's like a master jewel thief complaining about safe crackers, Nathan's A-Game is built on using the rules to draw penalties!

The Panther's Leota was caught breaking the rules by the ref, something he had obviously been coached to do, and he was fully aware of the illegality because he did his very best to hide what he was doing.

We often complain about the dodgy nature of the AFL, but it pales into insignificance compared to the dodgy commercial driven nature of NRL.

Case in point, Storm Captain Harry Grant is suspended for 2 games over an accidental impact greatly dramatized by the broadcasters.

Elsewhere on the same field of play, the Bulldog's Captain Stephen Crichton, during a tackle on Ryan Papenhuyzen, deliberately reached down to the face of Papenhuyzen and raked his fingers across Papenhuyzen's face with enough force to twist Papenhuyzen's head. The incident was replayed just once, talked down by the broadcasters, and Crichton wasn't even sighted by the review panel!

speaking of dodgy I see ex storm Player  Brandon Smith has been charged by Qld police for supplying a "dangerous" substance and providing inside info information for betting purposes. I hope there are mitigating circumstances or there could be serious jail time. The Bunnies picked up a bargain there! He has always been a sort of lovable larrikin but maybe gone too far this time

Gone may be the operative word.

He had a spot of 'dangerous substance' bother after a losing Storm GF a few years back, so he clearly needs to get some help.  I loved watching 'The Cheese' play, he had white-line fever of the highest grade (and I use that term very carefully....).  
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

I suspect he's failed to respect his noggin one time too many!

Many of the NRL tribe can be best described as talented blunt instruments.

btw., Do you like how News Ltd report it, "Ex. Storm Star ........" rather than "Rabbitoh's player ............."?

Harry Grant two weeks for an accident, Crichton gets a $1000 fine for deliberately raking a face with enough force to twist somebodies head.

Harry Grant, "Oops turned the wrong way in a collision" error.

Crichton, enacting the "I'm going to rip your head off and crap down your neck!" threat.

Yes they also missed ex Roosters player, who he left us to play for until souths gave him a lifeline.Just a waste the guys got a young family,but seems to hang with bad influences outside of rugby.

As for Crichton NRL wont touch the Bulldogs....frightened of the godfather Phil Gould :D

Well maybe we can take some solace out of the fact that it is not just the AFL Judiciary that is bogus and / or corrupt.

But as a Storm fan it's hard to swallow. Earlier in the season players were warned and being pinged for hip drop tackles, a hip drop tackle is when you tackle from behind or the side and drop your body weight onto the back of an opponents lower leg. It is considered very dangerous, it wrecks knees and ankles, and it happened twice against Storm players at the weekend. Both incidents were not even penalised and were cleared by the post match judiciary. No wonder Bellamy went feral post match, I can't blame him, as if by accident it just happened to be two of Storms prime movers in Munster and Coates who were the victims.

Then yesterday, Broncos star Reece Walsh blatantly and deliberately headbutts an opponent, is sin binned on the spot, and yet post match is cleared by the NRL judiciary.

The couple of weeks before, the Bulldogs captain Crichton rakes the eyes of Storm player Papenhuyzen, an event caught on video and reported, and is cleared to play. Some might say karma got even in that case, Crichton was injured the final against Storm last Friday night and is now apparently likely out for the season barring a miracle recovery.

In the last few weeks the Storm have had Solomona and Grant both suspended for what was effectively accidental high contact, Solomona is basically out for the season from opponents throwing themselves at Solomona's 6ft high shoulder to claiming a high contact penalty. The last event for which Solomona received a three week suspension wasn't even penalised by the on field referee, for good reason, the opponent was dropping his knees in the tackle, which is the NRL equivalent of ducking into a tackle.

I don't mind this if the rules are applied uniformly, and the same applies to the AFL, but it's clear that is not the case.

I don't think there is a systematic bias for or against any one specific club, but the problem is the inconsistent way the rules are applied. If there is favouritism it's probably subconscious.

But I don't think anybody can claim the judiciaries are consistent, and I think that is all fans really want, the judiciary should be fundamentally consistent at least in it's own frame of reference.
