If Australia have a good first session, then they'll go on and win comfortably.

The worry is the gaping hole as wide as the Grand Canyon in our top 3. Not as if we don't have players performing at first class level in those spots. Should have been sorted a while ago instead of persisting with blokes that are gone or out of form.

Rabada not getting two years was a fit up.
Marnus cops a lot of flak but Khawaja has gotten away with being a hundred or zero man for while.
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

Lack of competition for openers and a dearth in quality to find a No 3 since Marnus has struggled.
There seems this concept that Cameron Green has to play when fit, I think he is overhyped and Im not a subscriber to him having to be in the team and Webster has proven a more reliable NO 6 and can at least stay on the park and is equally adept with the ball.
Green isnt a top order batsman and I dont know whose Idea it was to play at him at No 3 but it was a bad idea.
We will get away with it though and win the game as Jim suggested purely on South Africa being a substandard batting outfit so the passengers in the Oz team will be carried by the bowling quartet as has been the case for a while now.

4/95 all out 138 - lead of 74. Cummins with 300 test wickets.  4 and a bit sessions in and 20 wickets gone.  Not a great advertisement for the combatants to become World Test Champions.

Embarrassing performance from our blokes, Saffies are within reach of victory with opener Markram hammering our bowling, we could still win given SA are a rubbery batting line up who could collapse but we still need 8 wickets and they only need 80 odd runs.

Even more embarrassing for the selectors EB!

Khawaja can be hit or miss but he’s better with an opening partner who can take some pressure off him.  Marnus hasn’t scored runs in any form of cricket for quite a while and expecting him to open the batting is a huge leap of faith.

Green’s not a number 3 and never will be and I really don’t think you can play him and Webster in the same 11.

Both teams have decent attacks but the wicket doesn’t hold any terrors.  Inept batting is the key to us winning/losing 🙄
It's still the Gulf of Mexico, Don Old!

It's been that way for several seasons now, when the opposition batting fails to collapse like our own list we like to blame our bowlers.

Hayden's comments expose the folly, he was basically telling people the pitch was unplayable and blokes were sitting in the rooms in dread and tears. The pitch might well be a sh1t pitch for the WTC Final, but it's not horrendous, it's just not your typical Lord's pitch. Horrendous is when you go into a forward defence and get hit in the face, this pitch has done none of that sort of rubbish!

IPL has made these blokes soft and weak minded, if the pitch isn't a road they bitch and moan. They want runs delivered to them on a platter. They need to take some of Jeremy Clarkson's advice, the advice he gave to Kaleb Cooper when he returned to the farm from his theatre performance gig, how to get over a dose of "c@#t flu!"

Sometimes it is the bowlers at fault, but in general our bowling is good on average despite one or two highly variable performances from certain players.

Our best performed bowler in the UK in recent times isn't even in the squad.

Until the NSW Cricket Mafia lose control of CA nothing will change, they have there favourites and the deflect like hell to defend them.

Pitch is fine if you can bat , one of their blokes has made 100 and their captain is 67 not out, too many IPL champs but no one with any technique in English conditions. The IPL has stuffed test cricket and we have seen Bazball short format stuff adopted by most test nations and its created a breed of batsman that cant cope in bowler friendly conditions.
The Batsman are not getting out through dangerous deliveries but from well executed pace bowling backed up by good fielding.
Id be moving George Bailey on, has no idea imo and just keeps picking the mates club players regardless of form, opposition or conditions. Green should never have played and we need two specialist openers not makeshift players who are popular with teammates but havent made a score for a couple of years ie Marnus.

Saffies rolled us, lost a few wickets this morning(England time) but Markram with 136 did the bulk of the work required. Going to have to be changes and the Aus mates club losing a few members.
