Plenty of videos about showing the same action from a crows player on Stocker (head also hits the fake grass) and the cats player on Cameron.

We always seem to be on the wrong end of these calls. Selwood stuck his hands into someone's eyes last week, buddy hit someone high again, thw same action by two other players in the same week attracts no report. What's really going on here?

Yes, that’s my opinion too.

I wouldn’t mind the penalties handed to Plowman and Williams if there was some consistency.

We’ve debated the Plowman incident at length and I think that there’s some agreement that he was going for the ball but braced for impact just before the collision.  Flogarty had no intention of going for the ball and crashed into Weitering after he had marked.  The impact was severe enough for the doc to check Weiters and, perhaps more importantly, the incident is not a good look for footy.

I don’t think there’s an anti-Carlton bias but I do believe that the MRO and tribunal operate on an ad hoc basis and are influenced by the status of the offender.

On Zac Williams: People call for a bit of mongrel and as soon as some one shows it, people on this site go all weak kneed. Does the crime does the time, good on him. Next time a bloke barrels into the back of Weitering they will know that they are likely to get their heads driven into the turf.

There's mongrel and there's mongrel, what Zac did was a terrible look and could have done some damage. Divorce it from the act on Weitering as its irrelevant.

I agree. He's an 800-900k recruit and is no good to us in the stands. There are cameras everywhere these days, so it's hard to get away with much, but there are more subtle and slightly more sophisticated ways of giving the opposition a few gentle words of encouragement than what he did. I'd be surprised if Teague condoned that particular act.

I think Williams probably deserves a week, but I do not get the how the MRP picks and chooses.

Almost exactly the same thing was done to Stocker just moments earlier by a Crows player, and the MRP gave it crickets chirping.

Now the real problem is that Stewart from Geelong slammed a Brisbane players head into the turf and nothing. Thats a real inconsistency which needs explanation. Side by side videos of the two incidents are all over twitter.

Williams deserves 1 week (stupid act),but bigger concern is how we almost let that game slip away, crows players out running us again ,i thought footscray all over again.Need a new game style / plan for 2022

We do not bat deep enough in the midfield, and our slower mids in Cripps and Walsh struggle to keep pace late in games. Walsh makes up for it by reading the play better than just about any player I've seen, but Cripps is often 30m out of position when we fail to generate enough stoppages.

We need a few more fast moving mids to spread the load, preferably with heavy durable bodies.

Yep.

There's a very clear line between mongrel within the rules, and stupid mongrel. Fly the flag with vigour and passion by all means, but don't step over the line. Zac will need to be educated as to the difference.

And that’s the crux of the matter!  I don’t mind Williams getting a week if Stewart does too.  The Adelaide player who slammed Stocker’s head into the ground should have got a week and Flogarty should have got two weeks.

Then there’s Selwood’s disgraceful acts, Buddy’s hit, etc, etc.

I don’t have a problem with it at all.  He probably deserves a week off but smashing into an unsuspecting bloke’s back after he’s marked is worse and could have caused serious injury.  Weitering was certainly dazed and I was surprised that he didn’t have to go off.

Yes, we may recall in a very famous GF how the same treatment was dealt out which resulted in a player going to hospital with a punctured lung and nearly dying. It was a lot heavier hit back then but the similarities are not lost on me.

With all due respect DJC rubbish! If the roles were reversed and Weiters did that to Fogarty and got suspended, you would have burned down AFL house.

Possibly ... but only before Plowman was suspended.  If Plowman gets suspended for accidental contact to the head in a genuine contest for the ball, Flogarty's late, deliberate hit on an unsuspecting Weitering must result in a suspension - if the MRO was consistent.

Remember that no-one remonstrated with Plowman but our players weren't holding back after Flogarty's hit.
