I'm not sure what's gone on in that 200m race but just about everyone's run a PB by a couple of tenths.
Murphy's 19.88 was a pb by about 6/10ths
I don't think anyone had him pegged as a sub 20 runner.
Kennedy's in superb form and no doubt would have broken 20 as well but he pulled up sore from the 100m
That tailwind must have chased them around the bend.

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear a bit more about this.
The run is a legitimate time and the wind gauge people would be proficient but..

Kennedy 9.96 x 2
Gout 19.67
Murphy 19.88.

No one would have predicted those times being legally run before the race.
It's extraordinary.
I don't think it's a case of 'The Games' scenario where the track was a metre short.

But the track has been upgraded and you wonder whether that's giving some assistance above a legitimate level. That may be investigated.

It will be interesting to see if the records are ratified.

Countering that is the fact that the Women's times in the 100 and 200 were average so maybe the guys just did have a day out.

I had a message from a friend who said there was a strong wind around the bend. Wind readings are only taken in the straight which is one of the anomalies of 200 metres running

Nketia is the New Zealand record holder 10.08.
At the end of last year he switched countries and now is an Australian runner.
He has brother who also runs for Australia and is a 46 sec 400 metre runner.

If they can get the baton around we may have a pretty good 4 x 100 relay team.
