Basketball

The Aussies had a good, if nail-biting 90-89 win over China in the FIBA Asia Cup final, giving us a three-peat.

I’m not sure whether China could have fielded a stronger team but our squad was all up and comers and they certainly rose to the challenge, particularly after China blew out to a double digit lead.

Sydney Kings forward Jaylin Galloway won MVP for the tournament.

Josh Giddey has just signed a four year contract with the Chicago Bulls.

Recognition of his outstanding season.

Done well after being traded in by the Bulls. Been spending some time in Australia with Melbourne United players and coaches.
Interesting news in the local NBL with 5 time MVP Bryce Cotton obtaining citizenship allowing him to play for the Boomers. Been a long process but recently he obtained advice from those who assisted Mason Cox and it proved very useful after many years of trying.

Josh has also been playing in some scratch matches and took on Eddie Betts in a shoot out.  Eddie is a skilful basketballer, but he would probably excel at most sports.
