$134k for a Dan Andrews statue, the state of Victoria is drowning in debt and we are wasting money honouring this muppet.
Tony Shaw wants to charge $1 for using the statue as a urinal, says we would halve the state debt....

Can this government get anymore out of touch with the people - If they are going to do it at least make it accurate and put a mask on him, have a mangled bike and hotel image with '800+ deaths' on it. I could go on but not sure how much space the proposed site has. Only fair to highlight the great man's work he did while in office.

All jokes aside, will be spending more of our money on 24H guards otherwise it wont last one night.

They just keep finding ways on blowing money we don't have - only 6 months to go before this group of muppet's are gone.

Dont get your hopes up.  Too many governement employees who are self interested will likely vote them in again.

A bit naive believing the other mob are going to be better....none of them deserve to be voted in.
DrE is no more... you ok with that harmonica man?

Also a good point prof.

Let's face it, they're all self serving.  We simply end up with politicians whos only motivation is to get elected, and once elected stay elected.

As a consequence they dont make changes that hurt their support base (financial or other) and generally work against the party in power more than for the public and end up implementing changes that are designed purely around winning votes and maintaining the status quo.

Weve had the weakest leaderships at government level since Howard finished up.  Everyone else has been more of a morale victor than anything else.

The policy is a wank, but you should blame the Hon Jeff Kennett, who introduced the policy in 1999, thinking he was a shoo-in for a 3rd term and an ugly statue.

I would be curious to know how many taxpayers there are in Victoria, and what the actual cost would be to each of them. Bugger all I suspect. If nothing else, Andrews certainly deserves credit for being able to live rent free in his enemies' heads.

Andrews affected/impacted the lives of many people negatively, my gut feel is that its as inappropriate a suggestion as I have ever heard (and thats coming from someone who is all for "honouring" our past greats of history with monuments).
2021-Pi$$ or get off the pot
2022- Real Deal or more of the same? 0.6%
2023- "Raise the Standard" - M. Voss Another year wasted Bar Set
2024-Back to the drawing boardNo excuses, its time
2025-Carlton can win the 2025 AFL Premiership

Its funny, this mirrors a lot of peoples thoughts in regards to our coach.

This guy is 'no good', so anyone else MUST be better.
Be careful what you with for.

This is why people get cheesed off about government spending.

A statue for 130k.
Painting the tunnel boring machine for 7k on one side, and then on the other, you get the sob story about not enough government funding being available for the public sector.

If you throw money away on luxury items, its a bit rich to have a go at people for complaining when they get a new tax.

When money gets tight at home, we start reducing our luxuries not borrow against our assets to make the place look pretty (about the only analogy I could come up with for the tunnel boring machine and the statue).  You cant complain that the ambos, cops, and teachers dont earn enough and raise taxes and then keep a straight face whilst building a statue.  I reckon had they canned the whole statue idea labelling it a relic that in the current climate is not required they would likely go a lot further to making people a bit happier with their governments.

It would bloody hard to get the state worse then it is now so well worth the risk to give another oarty a go.  If you dont replace the current party as your concerned you may get worse well using that mentality you wont be getting out your bed in the motning for fear of what may happen if you leave the house.

spin this ine anyway you want they need to go.

same as our coach!!

I'm sensing there are a lot more correlations than you would immediately think between the 2.

I haven't voiced my concern either way on the matter.

Just noting biases and expectations align pretty well.

All comes down to the 'can't be any worse' line of thinking. Which, personally i think is very much the wrong way of thinking.

As an aside the 'can't be any worse' when talking about our coach/club is laughable....considering we are NOT bottom of the ladder....so clearly CAN get worse.
Government is less clear cut, but very much similar. There can ALWAYS be worse.

I think we are equal bottom in terms of the future football wise as we stand at the minute...and as a state Victoria is in the worse condition I have ever seen it and that goes for the country.
