Lord was back to his best Prof!

He seemed a bit tentative earlier in the year but he has improved in every game since his recall.  His link up work on Saturday was smart and precise.

One thing I noticed about Lord is that he was often by himself with no opponent within cooee 🤔

Brisbane have across the last few years been really good, but their bad has been REALLY bad and there is a trend that has emerged this year.  They are conceding a lot of scores in most matches.

Round 12 vs GWS 166 to 88 as an example.   GWS by 78 points stands out too.

They seem to be downhill skiers based on their win and loss records.

They are a formidable outfit, and this doesnt take away from our win at all, but its something to consider.

As far as Weitering goes I would like to try him forward. Played some decent games there for a while as a skinnier kid until it become a struggle, as happens bring a Carlton forward back then. As a mature player he might be alot better again.
When Weiters is fit, he slots straight back into full back and we should be trying Derksen forward.  Played several games there for GWS in the VFL for a pretty solid goalkicking return.  And he has very good hands as we have seen.  He also kicked 5 against Casey Demons earlier this year.
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

It seemed to me that Brisbane was trying to get an extra number at the contest and Lord's opponent was often it.  It was a tactic that backfired spectacularly with Lord's ability to link up and make very good use of the pill.  It probably played him back into form and he'll be full of confidence for the games ahead.

Walsh, Hewett and Smith were supreme at getting the ball inside to out, the Lions couldn't stop them, and even when the Lions won the footy at a stoppage we pressured them into turnovers. It's why I thought it was Pitto's best game, Draper only really got away from him once that I can recall and Fort had no impact at all, while Pitto was obstructing the Lions disposal chain at just about every stoppage.

Where a ruck positions themself after the tap is far more important than the tap itself, they can become an obstacle for opponents and a shield for team-mates. In this regard I thought Cripps and Pitto worked very very well together, because the two of them were shutting off a huge section of turf from the Lions Mids.
