AFLW 2026 Rd 8 Carlton vs Hawthorn at home

A Thursday night game at home. :( I hate Thursday night footy.
Hawthorn are 9th, we're 6th.

There is wisdom in those words.

As I grow older, I hate anything not Saturday or Sunday, the weekend is greatly diminished and there is less to look forward to.

No wonder the USA society is full of bitterness and hate, each day blends into another, nothing is reserved or special!

Brick back KB and co, 'Grumpy old men' are back!

For me, footy takes priority on the weekend. I try and fit my social life (as limited as it may be) and kids sports around who is playing and when.
So to get something like that 'out of the way' before the weekend is a blessing for me. It frees up time that i can do something else instead.
Since footy season finished (and kids soccer) i've managed to play golf twice and go to the driving range twice. Previously, it'd be 3 years combined before i could reach that same total.

The AFLW is a quicker version of footy and is able to fit in better.....also less likely chance of spoilers if i can't watch it live.

So i've got no problem with Thursday night footy (unless i wanna go to it) and Sunday/Monday night footy etc.
I'd prefer our away games to always be on at that time.

Amelia Velardo out "managed" is a big call.  Her reliability in defence has been a big factor so far this season and I hope we're not taking the Hawks too lightly.

For those not in Melbourne currently, looking at the rain on the cameras does not do it justice.
A months worth of rain expected in 24 hours currently.

Proud of our girls to be as clean as they have been.

Easy game to lose this one.

Was 19 to 0 in the first quarter.

Now its halways through the 3rd and its 19-19.

.....and then we finally kick our 4th.

Couple players standing out in the terrible conditions.

Mimi Hill doesn't realise its wet. One touch most of the time.
Ronny Fitspatrick will just about win our best and fairest....has a couple goals and has a top speed that makes other look like they are standing still.......fair tank too
Sherar doesn't have a whole lot of weight to throw around, but seems to love the conditions and always looking for contact.

5 minutes to go 15 points up. Looking beyond the hawks to kick 3 goals in 5 minutes, given they've taken almost 90 minutes to kick their first 3.

The ball has lived in our F50 for the last 10 minutes. Unfortunately only 1 goal.

The ball rolls and bounces like it’s filled with lead.

Thankfully we don't play until the last game next week, @ Sydney which will be a big test.

We'll need the rest.
