Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Rd 19 - Carlton vs Fremantle (Pre Contest Conundrums)
We'll all be watching Rowe closely this week. Last week he was very close to being a liability, whilst Casboult from all reports was very good again in the Reserves.

Graham is also unlucky, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is only considered as a replacement for McLean.

Where are McInnes and Waite?

Graham's problem is pace...good ball winner and you need your in and under types but Cachia, Curnow, Mclean, Carrazzo in the one team is in cricket terms very medium paced.
I think Graham will be a good senior player but may have to wait his chance...

re: Rowe...fair points, dont know about a liability...he didnt have the ball enough to be a liability and was more of a passenger.
However he has been signed for next season and Casboult would be thinking he is now fighting for his spot on the list unless both Hampson and Warnock get traded out.....
Sam Mitchel is slow
So were Greg Williams and Leigh Matthews, but I try and fit them in!

Glad to see Curnow get some sugar for his game, it was the best for the club by some margin.

He actually started hurting the opposition not just tagging Ablett, and this was good to see. Even when Ablett did get off  the leash it was well away from anywhere he could do us any real harm.

As for this week, bring Duigan in and issue one clear instruction to the HB and midfield group. Sit the ball on Sandilands head at CHF, and clear a path for Duigs!  ;D

Replacing who DJC?

I think he means Carrazzo, who I thought got better as the game wore on lastSaturday.

I suspect Lucas might get a rest this week, he looked sore the last couple of weeks and struggled to get into the game after that bump he took. He had less impact than Cachia!

If he does replace Lucas then Bell better lift his ball use efficiency as Lucas is a mile ahead and that is nothing to be proud of!

206 torched him at Paterson Stadium in 2011

Wasn't that back when Sandilands was suffering turf toe, even so I think at best he broke even?

Maybe you mean another year, but I think Sandilands has been close to BOG in 4 of our last six encounters! So perhaps a break even is a win!
No it was 2011, I went went over for the game, Robbie played very well more than matched it with Lurch. In fact, I gave Robbie the points and thought he was instrumental in our win that day.

Warnock smacked everyone in 2011. Had a good year.

It is amazing how the mind can play tricks and also the effects of Navy Blue goggles!

GTC, are you sure you voted you can check HERE

Warnock only got a single vote on our site, Rnd 21 2011 and wasn't listed in the media archives I can find, Sandilands was listed by some media among Freos best even though they lost!

As for 206, he did have a good 2011 but not against Sandilands.

The Sports Desk / Re: Australian Cricket - Crisis, What Crisis ??
Bird must be played...... bizarre that he wasn't for this Test.

Watson must be dropped - can't get rewarding the carpola he produces...... fly in another 19 YO IF THAT'S ALL WE'VE GOT....

Does Rogers get another go after that deplorable effort?

Way too many NSW guys in the team too. Smith? Meh?

Hughes - double meh.......Shaun Marsh is 6 times the player Hughes could ever be......

Voges? D. Hussey?

Mike Hussey saw the writing in the wall i reckon.

Is Clarke as Captain the problem?!!  ???

Don't start me on the NSW thingy, despite the team problems they are not the only cause, they just started the stone rolling down a very slippery slope! And I won't even start on NSW Cricket's alleged links to the MCC manipulating player placement in County Cricket!

How to become a Australian Test player;

 - Be born, play or move to NSW.
 - Be a distant cousin, nephew or relative of a past NSW state or test player.
 - Hack 50 runs off 20 balls in some limited over rubbish on a back block in Mudgee or similar off the radar location.
 - Rip open the brown paper bag they delivered when your mum brought you home from hospital!

When Sheffield Shield Cricket died, Australian Test cricket became gravely ill!

Now we breed hacks courtesy of the big bash!

PS.  Further to my hack statement, the juniors I sometimes help to coach tell me that David Warner and Phil Hughes are "Classical Batsmen." That says something about where our national sport is heading!

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Kreuzer Set To Blossom (Madden) - HUN
That was one of the best games from Kreuzer since his knee injury.

Goldstein won the hitouts decisively but Kreuzer was far more effective around the ground, particularly in the second half. His four contested marks, two at crucial times, are a huge improvement.

Kreuzer has the ability to rack up possessions around the ground but I am not sure if he knows where to position himself to do that.  Capuano was an OK tap ruckman but I don't really remember him doing much else.  If Kreuzer is to realize his potential, he needs a mentor or tutor to teach him how to position himself to give the defence a chop out, provide a link around the ground and drift forward and be an offensive threat.

Hampson and Warnock could/should be part of the class too.

This is quite a good post, Kreuzer is a victim of his supreme stoppage skills. He has never had to do this stuff throughout his junior career because it was all forward of the stoppage.

I think Warnock just needs to actually get involved.

Hampson works around the ground well but needs to hang onto more marks.

I know his supporters will arc up, but Casboult needs to learn to ruck.

The Sports Desk / Re: The Ashes - Second Test @ Lords
They are mostly marking time.

Watson is way over-rated.
Hughes continues to play stupid shots. ( I thought he was improving but the jury is out!)
Siddle is aging. (I love him but it's next gen time.)
Starc is over-rated.
Haddin is past his use by date.

I have no idea what Khawaja was thinking.

Clarke is getting better as a captain, but horribly out of form and needs to get a handle on the off-field stuff not just the field.

Robert Heatley Stand / Re: RD 17 : Blues Defeat Kangaroos (After-Match Defibrillators)
There is obviously a number of players carry injuries, as all clubs have at this time of year.

Armfield and Murphy have lost heaps of pace over the last few weeks. Murphy looks dead slow, Armfield struggles to chase down a ruck.

Judd looked flat as a tack, like he had the lurgy or something.

Carrazzo and McLean both had great work ethics, but just couldn't do anything once they got to the contest. Our midfield was smashed, but only because the umpires refused to pay free for holding.

I cannot believe how many players at the moment are getting tackled before they take possession of the ball, it cannot be an accident it must be a deliberate umpiring decision because it happens across all games.

Team C

5 - Kreuzer
4 - Simpson
3 - Henderson
2 - Curnow
1 - Jamison

SpecialK, speaks for himself, ruck, marks, tackles if he'd kicked that goal it would have been as good as it gets.

Simpson, held thing together.

Henderson, not much ball but pretty much all quality.

Curnow, perhaps his best game for the club.

Jamison, our smashed mids meant Petrie the monster had plenty of opportunity yet Jammo found ways to stop him 3 out of 4 times.
