Actually, the market is bizarre given the bulk of Tesla's are apparently made off-shore, it feels like a guess.

Nice to not hear of any whining about the voting/counting process as well as no reports of violence.

It's funny how comedy can change with a change in situation.

Some of the sketches and jokes about Trump over the last four years have been pretty funny.
In the last week a few comedians have tried both here and in the USA to make light of the situation, but it just seems to be missing the mark.
It seems a bit like "trying too hard" or 'bitter' and it just doesn't seem funny anymore.
A lot of the funny folk are/were too invested in a Trump loss.
And their jokes are the jokes of the defeated.

I'm sure it will come back and we'll have a few laughs in the next four years but just at the moment it's all a bit raw.

Unfortunately, I fear there won't be much "funny" over the next few years.

People have short memories, I have relatives that live in OS locations like Bali, Fiji, Cook Islands and The Philippines. In those regions there are also a lot of MAGA Nutters, Ex.Pats, I don't want to proliferate a stereotype but you can guess the type if you've been to those locations.

Now my relatives can remember what happened under Trump's last term, he slashed US Federal budgets to reduce taxes, but he did so by cutting funding to entities like the WHO. This impacts the global population. In regions like Indonesia, The Philippines and Fiji, this drives up the cost of basic health care, wealthy countries like the USA is no longer contributing to UN subsidies effectively force the poor to pay by reducing aid programs.

Fatar5e Americans applaud Trump as they get a few extra dollars to pack another cheeseburger into an already massively obese frame. The irony of Trump's inner circle singing hymns together, their religion is fake, missionary chic, the Fijian's that suffer under the cut subsidies are far far more religious.

My relatives are long term residents in those regions running local businesses employing locals, they been there for decades, they aren't just retirees or unemployed on an extended holiday, and they aren't just fake missionaries on a paid repentance holiday.

Many of the MAGA Nutters if they were there in Trump's last term have no recollection of this, many of them were not there, but some can't even recall what they did last night between closing and the early openers, others just don't give a feck because they don't plan to live that long!

Here's the point I was making.
I guess the fear aspect, and the uncertainty, looms large at the moment.
It's why laughter isn't necessarily 'the best medicine' because comedians over empasise the worst of situations to get that extra effect by pushing the 'ridiculous' worst case outcome.
The problem is that some folks see that 'ridiculous' as a real possibility and until that fear subsides it just won't be funny.

Comedians thrive on the fact that their observations are seen as being just a little bit smarter or more aware than average folk.
Very few comedians would be considered unintelligent
Their views on things like politics and social situations and life in general are usually sharp...even if they may differ from our own.
Even the self-deprecating ones, the ones that put themselves down and play dumb, are pretty clever.

In the American situation, and also with some Australian comedians they have spent considerable time laying the boots into Trump.
But many have misread the mood, and suddenly they don't seem so smart or sharp.
The comedy seems a bit 'sooky'

We really have no idea what the next four years will look like.
We can guess, we can worry, we can speculate worst case scenarios... or nothing much changing for the average American and the wider world.
We can live under a shadow of gloom and doom, or wait and see what actually happens.

If things do go a bit pear shaped under Trump there will be a backlash at the mid-terms in two years, so the most impact will be felt almost immediately from the time he takes office.
He'll want to get as much done as possible while he has congessional support....or maybe having won the prize, secured a solution to some of his more pressing legal issues, he'll head off to the  golf course.

I doubt you will know in the short term what is being impacted when one side controls all segments of government, they are the architect, project manager and auditor.

It's likely to take several terms, potentially years after this coming term ends, for the effects and outcomes to be measured, in the interim Trump will claim immediate benefit when he can broadcast a win, while every bad will be the doings of those previous.

In the real world, economists and bureaucrats will tell you policy changes takes years to have an impact. My associates here in Oz tell me State policy will typically take 4 to 6 years to fully impact, and Federally it's more like 10 years, our economy is tiny and more dynamic than the USA by some significant margin. We are a Tug Boat they are the Titanic.

If comedians are actually highly intelligent, then it is no wonder they are depressed!

Have you come across Trump's nominated Border Czar, Tom Homan, he's like a corporatized version of the KKK. He contributes and participates on Podcasts that claim the 911 attacks were initiated by a Jewish cartel. I don't see the joke, maybe I've missed something.

I wonder what Anthony Pratt thinks of Tom Homan, I bet News Ltd or Fox never ask the question?

That's politics 101.
They all do it.

Trump says he's not a politician.
He's a very good one.
He may not be a great person but...
He's going to be in power...that's the measure.
Policy is meaningless unless you can enact it.

Reality is not.

The saving grace, if I can call it that, is that the next POTUS will be a lame duck from day one.

Most presidents rely on two terms to implement their agendas and try to wind back the other bloke’s initiatives - think of Obama care and Aurangzeb’s pledge to dismantle it as soon as he took office.  Biden winning in 2020 effectively scuttled Aurangzeb’s opportunity to achieve much.

A lame duck president’s term is usually notable for the jockeying for the next nomination.  That may well mean some grandstanding by GOP hopefuls and that could include opposing Aurangzeb’s executive orders and nominations and even withholding funds; voting on party lines is not a thing.  That could be critical with GOP holding a narrow majority in the Senate and possibly just sneaking in front in the House.

@Lods‍ not really, and if you accept the above then you might have to concede you are contributing to the problem.

Politicians had always anchored claims at least partially to some supporting evidence, even if it was a long way from unequivocal, or perhaps even if it was mostly tenuous or even contradictory.

Trump just makes crap up, he makes up crap about his opponents and he makes crap up about his peers. When the media get brave enough to call him out he just makes up more crap.

He could be labelled the crappest President ever, some might not agree, but it isn't necessarily inaccurate!

His supporters claim he has been verballed by the left media, yet he has broadcast "They're eating the dogs.........." live to air!

Dont think Pratt jr will care, he has his Green Card now and thinks he  is as American as "Southern Fried Chicken" .
Has interests in 70 USA factories and employs 12k US citizens, he was another billionaire whose money increased when Trump was voted in and is extended family are Americans. Of course Trump called him a red headed weirdo when he was trying to navigate his way through the Mar-a-Lago submarine fiasco when Pratt jr got the inside low down on sensitive military information about the subs deal  and Trump tried to throw him under the bus to save his own ar$e but now he is back as POTUS all those felony charges will disappear  and their love of greed and money will bring them back together. Pratt jr is still a member of the Mar-a-Lago club and Trump is about to make the former a lot richer with corporate tax cuts...21% to 15% will see Pratt Jr really in the money and will be investing some of it back into his new home which in return will benefit Trump.
Of course the Mar-a-Lago is where all the Trumps have gathered at the minute to celebrate along with their new buddy Elon Musk who wont leave such is his happiness with all things Trump, wonder if Elon might fancy his chances one day at the top job?....
