Kleptocracy
Good get.

I'm not sure if I believe the reports, but segments of the US media are claiming he gets to keep the Saudi plane when his term ends, I might have to change the RedTrump label to The Kleptocrat!

I believe that the 747 is meant to be a personal gift that the Kleptocrat in Chief intends to loan to the US government while he is POTUS.

The junior Kleptocrats are filling their boots too and there’s not a peep from those who were screaming about Hunter Biden 🙄

Just a curiosity.

Did you know one of Osama bin Laden's cousins made his fortune selling special purpose coatings for aircraft?

Not reported all that widely, but at the same time the Qataris have given Donald a plane, the Trump Organisation have agreed to build a luxury golf resort there, as well as another partnership to build a Trump Tower in Jeddah.

The POTUS is doing a great job of using his office to further his personal interests.  I bet the MAGA-cap wearers are going to benefit greatly (NOT!).

He is basically on a government-sponsored business trip, and he can change the rules to suit himself with the stroke of a Sharpie.

This is truly corruption of the highest order.

One day, when people are no longer scared of him, the whole story is going to come out.  I hope I live long enough to see that.
This is now the longest premiership drought in the history of the Carlton Football Club - more evidence of climate change?

RedTrump is kicking out foreign students and researchers in favour of "home grown".

RedTrump is oblivious to the fact much of America's "huge technologies", "technology like the world has never seen before" is built on imported expertise, going right back to Werner Von Braun.

What the USA was historically better at that any other country, was recruiting(some say pirating), bankrolling, rewarding and then taking the credit for all the work of foreign experts before and after they relocated! ;)

RedTrump bans 12 countries using the Colorado terrorist event as an excuse.

Except Egypt and Kuwait, the two countries the arrested terrorist lived prior to moving to the USA aren't on the list!

When is the US public and wider media going to wake up to RedTrump's gutless superficial acts, he's The King of Superficial, and what gift is RedTrump expecting from Kuwait or Egypt in return?

Qatar have already checked off "The plane the plane" from the gift registry, maybe a Golden Gun to go with the Golden Shield?

What is Americas greatest acheivement?
Plenty would say going to the moon.

How did they do it?
By using nazi scientists.

They are (or were) only 'great' because they outsourced their greatness and slapped an american flag on everything.

Their greatest acheivement in modern day is how successful they are at growing mushrooms. Their own propaganda machine works on keeping their own people in the dark to the goings on outside of their own 50 states and the reality of their standing within the world.
They can tell you what the mascot is of college football and basketball teams on the other side of america are, but couldn't point to germany on a world map.

I use to not take this seriously, in fact I'd often have a laugh with or at the expense of my US colleagues. But in recent times it's become a huge embarrassment to my USA based business and research associates, they no longer laugh about it.

My colleagues will tell you learning by rote is bullsh1t, it churns out students who can recite the pledge of allegiance and name every US state, but have no idea what the document means and can't find the bulk of the states on a map.

Unfortunately, we are heading the same way, knowledge without understanding.

I'm not sure it's just an American thing.
I watch some of the British quiz shows of an afternoon and the knowledge of their basic History and Geography as well as European general knowledge is often poor.
Yet pop trivia- singers, movies, gaming, sports is often  very good.
It's the same with some of our quiz shows.
The chasers are quite good though.
No Barry Joneses amongst the general population any more.

I love Barry Jones.

Education has been privatized and cannibalized, and people also no longer read books.

A good one i've started watching is the '1% club'.
Not really a trivia thing, but rather a bit of common sense and pattern recognition, thinking outside the box.
Tag line is "It's not about what you know, its about how you think"
In a world where all the information is at your finger tips, there is an increasing need for 'outside the box' thinking and logical thinking.
It does highlight some absolute dropkicks....but also some smart ones as well.

There's an aussie version and a british version.

re British vs American.

I saw a clip the other day of a few people on a talk show. Can't recall who or what, but there was some american actress talking about some slightly obscure country.
She asked 2 british guests "if they'd ever heard of it before as she hadn't or only just learned of it" or something.
One of their responses was, "of course we have because we were educated outside of America."
Nailed it.

Went on a tour through Italy with a heap of US students years ago.  My wife is an MD and I have a post doctoral degree.  Some bimbo from Florida says "gees your English is good".  Thank you, my wife actually fluent in four languages you stupid *itch.
In Venice we had a great day - climbed Giottos tower etc, they all went to the casino and dropped third grade acid.
They are so ****ing stupid it beggars belief. And so full of themselves...

The US courts are consistently ruling that Taco is overreaching his constitutional powers with some of his executive orders.  That process is yet to play out but it seems that Taco will ignore the courts and the Republicans will continue sit on their hands … although the Senate’s treatment of the “big, beautiful bill” provides some hope that some are growing backbones.

The escalating spat between Taco and Musk sees the former threatening to tear up government contracts with the latter’s company.  Apart from the unedifying spectacle of a head of state exchanging insults with a billionaire - and the allegation that Taco is a sexual predator who has abused underage girls - it beggars belief that a head of state can tear up government contracts because he has had a falling out with an individual.  How can a first world country be run like that?

And then there’s Taco reposting the conspiracy theory that former President Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced with clones or robots.

Taco is as mad as a cut snake and and should be in prison or an asylum rather than the White House.

And, speaking of the White House, has anyone noticed that the Oval Office has been tastefully redecorated so that it resembles a dodgy real estate agent’s office?

We might complain about our system of government but how good is it compared to the shemozzle that is the US constitution and its political parties?
