I thought the first fifteen minutes showed the difference in quality between the two sides, after that Collingwood were just better at executing their game plan and Carlton implemented their senior game plan of being witches hats, kicking appallingly, making poor decisions, not having a Plan B, switching off and generally running around like headless chooks. We won because we didn't give up, something the seniors can learn from, and because we were actually a better side than Collingwood, even after losing Young, though we may not necessarily have been a better team.
I would be playing Luke Camporeale, Lemmey and Binns in the seniors and I would have been playing L.Young as well.

Deserves a game but needs to handball more as his kicking is very ordinary, his brother played ok down back and seems a better kick as well.. Id be playing Lemmey too, he did some nice things and looks composed, Charlie can be his decoy🤐
Thought the.Campo boys were much better with the ball tonight.

Not sure exactly how much time Flynn Young spent on the ground...didn't notice him at all in the last quarter.
I suspect it was a managed situation after limited game time last night.
But he didn't really impact much at all and it may have been better for him not to play.

Riley's a favourite of mine...despite his limited appearances.
Reminds me a bit of Matty Kreuzer in some respects...but still a long way to go.
I liked the way a couple of times he took the ball from the ruck contest and quickly dished it off.
Lemmey took a bit of the ruck, but it was basically Riley most of the night against two rucks
He looked a bit spent chasing Cox on the lead late in the game so he no doubt gave it his best shot and worked hard most of the night.
If TDK goes it wouldn't hurt to try and get Riley on the list.

I think it was Lucas who did a couple of nice defensive acts, busted a gut to get to and create a contest to effect a spoil. Did it two or three times if I recall correctly.

In all honesty I'm more interested in breeding a system based winning culture at this level.

What impressed me most was that the game wasnt going their way, they corrected their bad play and they fought tooth and nail for eek out a win. Hope the goats who played on Friday night were watching.

There's some eligibility rules around finals for AFL listed players.
We currently sit just inside the Top 10
There are probably a few players a game or two shy of meeting that eligibility list. (Need to play a few more VFL games).

What's best for the club and player development long term...
Get these players into and playing VFL finals with a group on a positive run.
or
Give them a taste and a few games at senior level in a somewhat dysfunctional environment.

Binns and Lucas dominated the outside - Ben dominated the inside.

Outside domination is very rare for us. Maybe time to give Acres a spell to find form.

What I found fascinating, and depressing, was the difference in 'spirit' between the Magoos and seniors. Poles apart.

He touched on the backing-up of Young after being a sub the previous night and on other occasions where the needs of the senior team took precedence over the VFL side.
Examples-resting O'Farrell last week and Cincotta last night to be ready for next week after a short break.

It's all part of the total process but VFL wins are clearly secondary to the needs of the AFL team (as it should be) and Power should be cut a bit of slack for any results given his side gets turned upside down on a weekly basis.
Any injuries to any player on the senior list has an impact on the VFL side.

One thing that shouldn't be overlooked in that, is that he must have a system/game plan in place that doesn't matter about the cattle he has out there. Eg, he can't build around a certain player, because that play might be called up to the 1's.
He needs a plug and play style that works regardless of who is in the team.

That sounds VERY attractive for our senior side given our overreliance on certain players....who are underperforming.
