Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Review
Think he was a mercenary, Caro got stuck into him and tried to bait him every week on Footy Class and Bec was also copping plenty through the media.Think he just wanted out...What was left for him in the world of football and media?
Yep, Judd and Bec make far more dollar$ now than they ever would be media lackeys, they don't need it they are in a different league now!

If you say As backup only, then either an out of form tdk takes #1 ruck, or he goes out of the side. I don't think we should do either of those either.
We are overloaded with backup rucks, it's the 1st ruck we haven't got covered.

Pittonet is our only heavy bodied 4-Qtr ruck and he's struggling to have an impact, ideally he or Casboult would be the backup coming off the bench to relieve the 1st ruck.

Eventually that 1st ruck may be De Koning but he's 2 or 3 years away from being a consistent and reliable contributor.

For me this sort of comment is a big worry.
Quote from: Jacob Weitering
Carlton leader Jacob Weitering has urged the Blues to adopt a selfless mentality and “play for your mates” in a bid to reactivate a season spiralling out of control.
Read the rest at The Rage linked HERE.

The reason I don't like it is two fold.

Firstly, it's self evident that for AFL success you have to stick fat with each other on the field, regardless of whether you like each other off the field or at training. I've been a long time critic of our club regarding the absence of this mindset. But if Jacob Weitering has to speak that truth to his team-mates via the media what does it say about our recruiting and our player development? To me it reeks that our club is still mired in the old ways of the professional mercenary.

Secondly, if Jacob Weitering perceives this then other players will as well, other potential recruits and other potential re-signings, and that does not bode well for our club if progress and resolution of the problem doesn't become obvious!

I suppose I can look at the flipside, and in that case it just reinforces Weitering's leadership credentials.

No, hes just a talented youngster who has succumbed to rigours of having to compete with battle hardened players every week.
Yes, as a young player these rucks need to be managed not slaughtered.

It's why I've been calling for recruitment of rucks for two years now, we are undermanned and putting another 23 year old into the mix is not the solution. When we lost kreuzer we lost a dominant senior ruck, so we need a 28-30 year old hard bodied 24x7 performer.

Pittonet is 24x7, but he is struggling to have a positive impact, he'll never give us the dominance we need it's not naturally in his game. He is more of a Barnaby French type.

This is particularly important for us, because we need seriously good tap ruck work along with seriously good 2nd effort follow up(blocks, shepherds, checking, tackles) to advantage our slower midfielders. When the tap doesn't go to exactly the right spot, our slower midfielders get beaten to the ball almost 100% of the time!

Those of you experienced in flying, and in particularly the flatus expanding effects of low cabin pressures at altitude, will be seriously disturbed by the latest cabin concepts!

Enjoy the flight fart face!

Schools continue until outbreaks implicate those students, and then into isolation unless wider restrictions result in more online learning.
The problem here seems to be that when a virus variant is fast moving, due to the lag in diagnosis, by the time you get a positive case detection it's too late and you're in another snap lockdown anyway.

I sympathise with teachers and other school staff, they are in someway being treated by the general public as canaries.

Are you going to test all the kids pre-emptively? If so what happens to the poor kid who is first off the block, dragged out of school to be the eternal target of ridicule!

LP....I reckon Walsh would be a fair way in front at this point of the season. Weitering and McKay probably fighting it out for the minor positions.
Yet Doc will go close, he'll be right up there because even when the others are having a downer he's been quite consistent.

Which reminds me, did I read somewhere the club's official B&F voting rules have changed for 2021 season?

Is Gladys is playing Federal sponsored roulette with people's physical wellbeing and welfare purely for political gain, or is it a balanced approach?

If the crape hits the fan it'll be labelled irresponsible roulette, if it levels out they call her a genius, despite the outcome being mostly left to chance!

They can't pull the trigger, so they are going to creep up to the cliff edge and hope they have time to change their mind before they fall!
Robert Heatley Stand / Re: Pre game profession of faith: AFL 2021 Rd 15: Carlton vs Adelaide
We will end up with twenty players on the wing trying to hide and find them an easier role. Docherty needs to go back to the twos to  rediscover form and confidence, his fumbling ways won't work in the middle or hiding him on a wing vs decent players.
I like Doc but he needs rebuilding in the twos...
Are we focussing too much on one or two mistakes and ignoring the 85% good stuff he does?

Have we let our expectation of his perfection become the enemy of his good?

Why does he need to meet a higher standard than any other AFL footballer?

As LP noted, NSW is now facing a surge: 10 new cases. Perhaps Victoria overreacts to spikes but after a massive death toll when one got away from it, this is understandable. NSW has been lucky so far, but as the Atlantic article notes that may just have been due to the dumb luck of having no superspreaders in the past. If they’ve crapped out this time, Gladys’ reluctance to impose anything more than mask mandates might bite her in the arse.
It'll be different now, it's in a Liberal state and it is in Scotty's backyard, he'll call in the army!
